idk if people know it or not but the the AI generated craze has unfortunately hit the fiber arts community quite hard. crochet and knitting patterns made by AI are sadly spreading like a virus and tricking people into buying shitty patterns that are never going to work up like they are displayed. LLMs are completely incapable of making fiber arts patterns properly.

Woah, so apparently Rick Riordan fully abandoned twitter a while ago except for updates. Compared to nearly a million followers on Twitter vs less than 2 thousand on Mastodon right now makes me sad. It's likely most of those are dead accounts on twitter, but still! Please give Rick a follow if you are at all interested in his work. He's posted some behind the scenes stuff from the Percy Jackson show over the past few weeks too.

i think to better sustain the fediverse long term and encouraging decentralization having an official nonprofit that provides emergency server funding, technical aid, moderation training & stuff would be cool. something that specifically is aimed on keeping servers alive. having a sort of "respite" program of allowing mods to temporarily transparently take over would be helpful too

I think it's pretty funny that migrating an admin account off Mastodon disables like.. all the functionality you need to manage the instance so if the only admin account and your personal account is the same one then the instance is essentially unmoderated.
