The primary reason the "Australian tech sector" is whining about the proposed merger laws, is it would require that sector to start businesses with the intent to produce goods and services that people buy, generating revenue in excess of expenses, which would equate to profit.

"Hang on Geordie that's how business works" I hear you say.

Enormous swathes of the Australian start-up sector has no real interest in long term profitability through the legacy "making shit and selling it to people that want to buy it" method. The idea is to get a group of people to make a product and show that they can make a good product, then rather than deal with the machinations of getting them to buy it, handling support of it, producing new versions, features, etc. you instead toss your hair provocatively at a large tech company or established sector for acquisition.

I have to stay up late to make sure ops teams don’t arc up about the change I just did and I’m watching an action movie. The “good guys”, roughly a dozen, are hunkered down in a building after a mog rolled up to assault them. The good guys have so far shot about 200 dudes raising questions about not only how many dudes fit in a mog that ran down the front gates but also how many fucking rounds those clips hold.

Today in "reviews of things nobody asked for", the Mechen MP3 player I got is amazing. It plays music and the music sounds good. It has information on the screen like album art, the song name, album and artist. Do you like when your bluetooth headphones decide to not connect anymore? Well this doesn't do that because it doesn't have bluetooth, you plug in headphones and music comes out. Are you a fan of your music cutting out because you're at the edge of wifi range or you got in a lift? Well this'll let you down because it doesn't need or use the Internet, it plays your music.
