I am currently seperated from my beloved Chromecast and TV so have to make do without my Youku, WeTV and iQIYI. So I am rewatching Ancient Detective. I watched it many moons ago in a very chaotic fashion, so I made a promise to rewatch it, but slower. It's even better than I remember - a #wuxia detective tale, very classic in its set up; focuses on brotherhood and fighting between sects, the whole deal. Every character is unique! If you've not watched it, give it a try!
@massivelyop while definitely not his intent, he just illustrated an issue with huge publicly traded companies producing games.
Growth and profit aren’t the same. He’s not saying that the games won’t make money. Just that it won’t be in the ever increasing amounts demanded by people whose only investment in those games is their literal investment.
I’m not always camp “indie is better,” but when it comes to profit expectations and definitions of success… it just might be?
@emmaaum I'm having trouble with the short part more than the rest. Or rather, it eliminates whatever might work for the rest, as the only two shows I can think of that are short, are horror. :blobcatgiggle:
My understanding is that until recently any Thai GLs that were out there were relatively short.
Actually, what are your parameters for short? That might help.
“[Paired acting duo] now dating after being caught kissing in public.” Weird how the video thumbnail has:
• one picture of them kissing — from the show that popularized them
• one picture of them being cute together at a fanmeeting — you can see their in-ear headphones!
• a solo promo picture of one of them
Seems legit.
I hate stuff like this. It comes up so often. They’re just there to scam whatever ad revenue they can off of clicks. And presumably it’s profitable enough to keep at it.
@emmaaum ah. It took me a bit to figure out why I tend to stay on this track.
I have a Thing™️ about people deliberately lying.
I can deal with people being wrong, even if it’s exasperatingly so. And I understand there are social lies, that are part of how people get by.
But actively deceiving people in a way that adds to confusion and misinformation? Something that is likely to spread, even? My brain will lock on that. And I’ll forget that there are other, indirect, solutions.
@emmaaum I say that I understand that there are social lies, but more accurately: this is something I’ve learned over time, depending on the social “lie” — some of which aren’t so much lies as stock phrases that only sound like an assertion.
@emmaaum I’m actually not sure. I know something I’ve either watched or tried to watch, is, but I can’t remember which. I just remember bc I tried to watch it and couldn’t focus on it enough to engage with the story. If I’m thinking of the same show, that is.
@emmaaum true! And also, Ai is kind of a player, so… :blobcatthink: it tracks
It was weird though, like, how do you trip while sitting down? Like even if he sort of lost balance it’s weird to fall that far? Like, did he jump?
Then I realized, after I have no idea how many times seeing it, that actually, it looks more like Ai (also sitting next to him) grabbed his hand and flopped backwards pulling Nhai with him, so that Nhai landed on him.
@emmaaum I feel a little silly that I thought Nhai was just clumsy enough to trip while sitting before considering that Ai might be being a jackass.
To be fair, Nhai is very much a flake. That’s kind of his thing. He’ll drop things he just picked up bc he’s careless. He can get lost anywhere. And he’s always losing a plastic duck his father got him to teach him responsibility.
He’s also an aeronautical engineer major in college.
