The Bitmap Brothers set out to make what they called a “cutsie platform game” for the but ended up with something much weirder and more interesting when they released Magic Pockets in 1991. It was fun revisiting this one for Retro Gamer magazine this month!

Hi all, my wife Annie is researching exceptional computer/video games for kids (ages 5-12) with equal parts entertainment value and social emotional learning (). This is for a talk she's giving. Can you offer any recommendations? Thanks!

grahamp,

@DavidBFox The Putt-Putt games Annie helped design are still a huge hit with our 6-year-old! She has tonnes of fun playing them, but they feel valuable for her educationally as well. I think there are social aspects to that, like having to solve puzzles to help out other characters.

Investigated those prolific robbers, the Bonanza Bros, for Retro Gamer this month. Includes a Q&A with Sega hero Manabu Kusunoki about his coin-op classic :blobspy:

Who remembers ? It was fun writing about the original board game and its home computer adaptations for this month’s Retro Gamer magazine.
