Upgrades from the weekend:
Exhibit A: 3D-Printed cancer prevention oilbath (keeps FR4 particles from getting airborne) build motivated by @srslypascal Exhibit B: first steps in applyig solder mask. I struggle with process control. I think my laser-printed transparencies do not create enough shade, thus overexpose the soldermask.

@0xZogG if only i knew. some weird noname china model that flooded ebay in 2020~2021. it now seems to be gone from there. it made a good impression on me for its sturdiness and weight, i have not been disappointed in that regard. it runs an obscure firmware called cncos v2.0 h2. maybe that helps :D

Wegen einer Lungenentzündung konnte ich beim -Auf- und Abbau nicht helfen. Gestern bekam ich nochmals 'ne Chance und habe die letzten Paletten mit dem LKW von Lager B ins Lager W gefahren. Angesetzt waren 4-5 Stunden. Gedauert hat es 12 Stunden. War trotzdem schön ;)

✅ achievement unlocked: home PCB fab:
this reduces my waiting time for PCBs from 2 weeks to 15 minutes. this allows me to buy my ICs in SMT-only. Formerly I always had to have redundant THT-variants for prototyping on breadboard.

i had to resort to voronoj milling because my bits aren't precise enough. buying uv-curable solderpaste and better v-bits to beat my endboss level: LQFP-48. using + + plumbing.

Our power driver magnetises whatever bit is put on the end.

Usually screws are magnetised to the bit which is very handy when screwing in screws. They are held in place my the magnetic force.

But some screws I bought - I don't know what they're coated with - aren't magnetised. ❓

And I have some stainless steel screws which also aren't magnetised. But if they're steel, why don't magnets affect them?

Is it the coating on the screws too thick or the too weak?

@fineartisan stainless steels aren't magnetic. cant tell you why. probably something involving the crystal lattice and the effects of the introduced carbon from the production process and the freedom of electrons to move.

@fineartisan i just realized that i just translated stainless steel with the german "edelstahl" like V4A and V2A steels. i don't know wheter "stainless steel" encompasses more steels. the insecurity made me look it up: "Some stainless steels, such as the ferritic stainless steels are magnetic, while others, such as the austenitic, are nonmagnetic.[78]" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel

ich habe lange darueber nachgedacht, ob ich zum trotz nichtanwesenheit einen server betreiben werde. ich entscheide mich hiermit dagegen. ich habe ein ruhiges weihnachten zum wirklich mal ausspannen - ohne stress - geplant. 5 tage lang ein offenes forum moderieren steht dem irgendwie diametral entgegen. falls jemand den ball aufnehmen möchte: feel free :)

@overflo step 1a) maschine mitbringen und dem noc übergeben oder 1b) fragen ob ich bei irgendjemand mit server eine vm haben kann oder 1c) einen server in diesem internetz anmieten
2) Dafür sorgen, dass ich eine domain für den flohmarkt habe
3) SMTP-Access für den versand der register-mails.
4a) mir auf meinem server 1 nixos installieren und mithilfe der nix-flake von flohmarkt deployen oder 4b) mit der dockerlösung deployen.
5) einen reverseproxy vor das ding klemmen und damit HTTPS machen.
