Best in-ear Bluetooth earbuds? Thinking of getting AirPods Pros, but wanted to look at other options too. The caveat is that they must be in-ear with small tips (nibs?). I have small ears as well as piercings that make anything else unworkable (besides over-ear headphones, which I already have).

grubbslinger,

@muteki I’ve really enjoyed the pixel buds that I got free with my pixel. They work well outside of android too and are the only thing I’ve found that fits my ear and alllws me to move around without falling out.

I like to think I’m a gnarled, grizzled, greybeard in infosec. I’ve seen everything, and nothing surprises me.

But every now and then, very infrequently, an incident genuinely makes my jaw drop.

How was your day?

grubbslinger,

@SecurityWriter nothing surprises me because everything surprises me. 😄

apiratemoo, to infosec

My feed right now. Just saying:

grubbslinger,

@apiratemoo me rushing to duck go to look up what happened with Crowdstrike only to find that it’s about a stupid commercial. I missed it when it aired and had a moment of panic it was a breach or something.

Whoever the sound engineer for this should be fired.

The Michael Cera Cerave thing is fantastic gorilla marketing. They incepted that shit from the start right into our brains and now they introduce it to the normals watching the Super Bowl for the final act.

Also another friendly reminder that the He Gets Us ads are funded by the same Evangelical people who own Hobby Lobby and other groups who push evangelical ideals (ie Christian fascists).

I do not understand the Planet of the Apes movie series. I feel like it’s entirely pushed by one executive who just really wants to be friends with Andy Serkis.

Just friendly reminder that Turbo Tax and company’s like it spent over 80 million in lobbying to make sure there is no free way to file taxes.

HOW COME NO ONE TOLD ME WILFORD BIRMLY COACHED THE CHIEFS!?

Annnnnnd we’ve got the terrible music and sounds hitting Native American stereotypes, before honoring America segment, yup this truly an American cultural event now!

I’d like think The Beastie Boys would hate every moment of their song being used for that.

Analyst: ‘he uses his legs and that’s huge’

I would imagine not considering the dude is a playing professional football.

grubbslinger, to random

Oh had to get a shot of the ball.

I forgot it was in Vegas so now my way makes sense. Gotta do the most generic Sinatra for this.

grubbslinger, to random

My wife wants to actually enjoy the game so yall gonna get my snark instead

Why the hell are they using my way? Like my dudes you are showing rhe most generic clips of football.

Me: Explaining that the Super Bowl is the final game to my son.

Son: “oh so it’s like the grand finale of Is It Cake!”

Hey anybody on the Fediverse got experience with the ? I got the My First Battle box for my 5 year old and he loves it. We played for two hours and he wanted to play more today. He rarely does anything longer than an hour before wanting to move on.

Question I have is where I should go from there? He’s fairly good a remembering details and rules but I don’t want to start dropping a bunch of rules on him right now away. I can see the starter decks get tired after a bit though so I am wondering what’s the best slow growth path for him?

I also want to try to stave off the addiction that is opening boosters. I know it’s a feature of TCG but I also know how easy it is to fall into the hole of MORE and I’m trying to teach him consuming with purpose, not just getting stuff to have more stuff you know? So things that provide the most bang for your dollar would be best.

grubbslinger,

@nermalprentzels sweet thank you for the tips! I didn’t know about the deck difficulty rating.

Finally getting a chance to play Baulder Gate 3. I started off playing it like I’ve done most other fantasy rpgs: like a checklist of things to be done in an area before moving to the next. I quickly realized that was a terrible way to play this because it’s dnd. It’s not a list of objectives to conquer but a story you help tell.

And it’s awesome!

I have had several people that received the ban hammer recently grousing about how it goes against my air of “kindness” and the quote I have in my profile. I firmly believe in the importance of being kind to other people. But there are limits.

Do not confuse kindness with weakness, please.

grubbslinger,

@jerry ah yes the classic ‘tolerate left’ taunt when someone gets called out for their bullshit. Yeah I’m tolerate. Tolerate of having your ass throw outta here.

All I’m saying is don’t image search ‘French Telephone Plug’ on DuckDuckGo during a presentation with safe search turned OFF.

grubbslinger,

@SecurityWriter I had only telephone plugs for a bit. I was like ‘I don’t see the issue it’s just a bunch of telephone….oh god!’

Not to be the “what are they teaching kids at school these days” guy. But I have two digital forensics/cyber security post grads on my team, and I had to give them the birds and the bees talk (networking and DNS).

I’m happy to of course, you don’t learn by not asking, but it was a revelation to them.

Both are more ‘qualified’ than me, but had no clue further than what an IP address does.

grubbslinger,

@SecurityWriter ask them if they know what wireshark does. I had a professor of cybersecurity department straight up say ‘I’d never use that.’

@flexghost I thought you’d appreciate this video: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPR3A15TN/

grubbslinger,

@flexghost awww fair enough it was a dude ranting about people who think ‘normies’ are going to ruin warhammer.
