The new law offers parole to convicts who sign a contract to join the army, a move that some officials have said could generate a maximum of 20,000 soldiers for the Ukrainian war effort.

I wonder if the net results of this, TCC kidnappings, and forced deportations will be enough to even patch the casualties of the summer offensive. Even if they conscript some wildly optimistic number of people- 50k, 100k, whatever- it’s giving the most demoralised citizens a few days of training before permanently disabling whoever survives. There are videos of genuine WW1 shell shock just from being near a FAB and Russia is still flying like 100 sorties a day delivering those.

What’s a biodegradable alternative to this? I like the principle but wouldn’t want to hurt wildlife with broken glass.

Take one raw egg. With a needle drill a hole in the top of the egg, gently breaking away about 1/2 sq. cm of shell (Illust. C, No. 1). Insert the needle and stir up the yolk and white. Poke another hole in the same end of the egg, about 3 cm from the first hole (Illust. C). Blow through the second hole so that the yolk and white come out the first hole (Illust. D). Have an omelette! Make up a mixture of 50% black, red, yellow, blue or fluorescent green oil-based paint and 50% thinner (eg. turps, petrol, kerosene). Alternatively, make up a solution of colour-fast dye, mixing it with a thickener such as cornflour over heat until you get a gravy-type consistency. Pour this mixture into a~thin-nozzled, screw-top bottle. Seal the second hole of the egg with a pasty mixture of flour and water or candle wax (Illust. E). Pour in the paint/ dye solution through the first hole (Illust. F) and seal it also. You now have a perfect-sized, semi-biodegradable missile. We’ve found these little beauties very effective.

Biden plans to send $1bn arms shipment to Israel (www.bbc.com)

spoilerThe White House has told Congress it wants to send more than $1bn (£800m) in new weapons to Israel. This comes despite the US being opposed to a full-scale invasion by the Israeli military on the southern Gaza city of Rafah. It said last week it had paused a shipment of bombs to Israel over concerns civilians would be...

A candidate has to be a vocal anti-Zionist for me to even consider voting for them now. Zionists are feral and I don’t trust such genocidal freaks with any amount of power.

Four stories from the COVID supply crunch stood out to me:

  1. Factories building and garages maintaining 18-wheelers had to shut down because they couldn’t source some small metal part that came from China domestically. It was just like a particular kind of ball-bearing.
  2. A factory that made doors had to shut down because it couldn’t source its inputs domestically
  3. Municipal utility companies warned that they had no supplies to respond to infrastructure damage because they couldn’t source them domestically
  4. Nurses were wearing trash bags while people paid $100 for homemade ineffective hand sanitiser on ebay because the basic supplies required to respond to the pandemic at any level couldn’t be sourced domestically.

Big fuck around energy.

It’d be a shame if this trade war escalated to make consumer goods unavailable/more expensive during what will probably be the hottest summer in human history and an election year where the majority of Americans hate their unhinged genocidal president who’s gaslighting them about the ersatz economy.

“Literacy” was always the most basic tool of totalitarian propaganda. If you are not literate you can’t be fed communist propaganda. The most steadfast anti-communist I knew in my childhood was my maternal grandfather who was illiterate. Communist propaganda did not reach him

It always seemed weird to me that it would be formally developed so late. Like I’ve taken multiple trigonometry courses and can’t even define trigonometry let alone make sense of most of it, but the Pythagorean theorem is a purely intuitive thing everyone does regularly. The first person to take a diagonal shortcut while walking understood it. It should have been the first thing mathematics codified after basic arithmetic.

I really like esperanto as a project: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esperanto

It had a lot of support with early 20th century anarchists who saw it as a way to make people less nationalistic and prone to their domestic propaganda.

Interlingua: Da nos hodie nostre pan quotidian,

Esperanto: Nian panon ĉiutagan donu al ni hodiaŭ

English: Give us this day our daily bread;

We have our choice between Spanish Latin, Romanian Latin, or super complicated Latin that contradicts itself and absorbed things from everywhere at random.

M'lordddd, I've been waiting on my cyberwagon repair since 24 February (www.cybertruckownersclub.com)

spoilerI wanted to wait until the truck repair was complete, but am feeling a bit frustrated and needed to vent a little. Some background. We were in the first group to drive the Cybertruck off the Service Center lot out of Jacksonville, FL early this year. Upon our drive home, we noticed some minor issues. Notably, the tires...

Did they advise you what specifically needs to be changed with respect to the wheel wobble? Did they mention the part needed?

They have provided no other information which is probably the most frustrating part of all this. A service center so overwhelmed they are struggling to communicate and keep up with their repair schedules.

Having driven many vehicles over my life, some of which definitely had imbalanced wheels, I’m pretty sure the wheel issue is the easy fix and not the source of delays. A proper balancing on a lift should have fixed that. So I’m going on the assumption that it’s either the part to replace the air suspension alert or perhaps the entire glove box is needing replacing.

The app provides no details on what exactly is being replaced/repaired so far. Maybe when it’s all through it will? I’ve never had to go through this with my 2018 Model 3. That car has been solid with a mobile service visit taking care of our upgrade from hardware 2 to hardware 3 I believe.

In your situation I think you would qualify for a lemon law buy back or replacement easily. Sure hope if get it back they really know it’s fixed, horrible situation and service for sure, scares me to get mine a bit. Although I live an hour from Tesla y’all sounds worse for sure and I’d caution to buy a vehicle (especially 1st year new tech Tesla) being so far from a SC.

Not really a lemon issue. They haven’t actually fixed a thing yet. The service center is just… bad.

That said, I love the truck too much to do anything like that. I’ll just try to use a different service center in the future should anything else arise.

The lemon clock still runs out, even if they don’t attempt to fix it, in most lemon laws.

Well, not a great update so far. Today’s the day it was supposed to be repaired (again). I messaged the service center early this morning to confirm if I should make the long round trip drive up. I got a reply back pretty quickly asking us to wait until they call which they estimated to be around 1pm. It’s now 3:30pm with no phone call to us made. The truck doesn’t appear to have moved inside for repairs (location still shows it is outside in the parking lot).

Got a call just now (4:45) with an update. They apparently have been waiting on the tool to arrive which is needed to replace the defective part. Not sure why they had us drop the truck off without the tools to repair said part weeks ago, but at least now they can repair it. Except the service center closes shortly, so tomorrow will hopefully be the day we can finally pick it up again. Huzzah!
