I fail to see a path to rehabilitation for people who drive others to suicide. For me its a lot worse than murder. The amount of cruelty needed to really drive someone to do it is incomprehensible to me.

And so on and so forth. The language is shaping the story in one direction as if nobody has a chance to change something about it.

You‘re so right. Google hasnt got anything to do near this. We all know what they’re gonna use this for, right? They’re gonna find pathways that make looking away from ads impossible or hardwire the ads into our brains.

Is There a Way to Officially Disable a Lemmy Account?

I would like to know if there is an “official” way to set an account as disabled. For now, I am plan on posting this on Asklemmy, changing my password to some random string that I won’t remember, and then logging out. Yeah, leaving lemmy for reddit is one of the worst ideas I have ever heard. Leaving social media all together and even going out more would be a great idea though.

In any case, good luck to you. The steps to delete your account have been mentioned plenty so I‘ll not repeat that.

Sorry, I meant „Additional security updates“. its not very useful for normal users and canonical is targeting enterprises with it but looking at it every day without a non hacky way to disable it just wore on me.

There is a debate to be had about how far this is morally acceptable. If you‘re trying to promote your nonprofit and ask friends to ask their friends to look at it I‘d say thats fine.

But asking bluntly for fake reviews is not ok imo. I‘d report this person immediately. I‘d rather make a nice post on every social media platform that fits my topic and plainly ask folks for feedback. This just seems lazy and uninspired.
