Has anyone seen alternate history sci-fi where there was no Chernobyl-level event? I'd be curious to think about a proper "atoms for peace" scenario, or a steampunk-but-nuclear present/future

I wanted to call "steampunk-but-nuclear" atompunk, but apparently that's more of a Fallout scenario ie post apocalypse

Hi, I'm stuck waiting on laundry to finish and am bored, so why don't I come on here and write some hot takes about YouTube?

I mean, I can think of several reasons, but too bad I'll do it anyway.

Knowing the leanings of the folks on this particular platform this is likely to spark some debate, but note that I'm not trying to paint YouTube as a saint - in fact, the first thing I want to talk about is a strategy they've taken which puts me and all YT creators in a weird place:

@mattferrell @TechConnectify could this come down to minutes watched? I'd say average runtime on an Undecided is a good bit shorter, than Connections or main-channel LTT

Ordered "garlic chips" from the local chippy, and while I'm not sure what I was expecting, garlic butter wasn't it. No complaints, but definitely not what I expected

Recently pretty much every retailer in Masterton that hadn't already (except the supermarkets) have either surcharged or completely dropped paywave. Presumably The Death Of Paywave is not a local phenomenon?

@vik retail is fairly common in Welly, outside of chains, but it's rare to see a surcharge in hospitality from my experience

We've really gotta sort out these sci-fi groups/alignments if we're gonna keep airing everything at once. I'm also having to switch between Empire and The Empire, and Foundation and The Federation
