I beg of you, please don't ever ignore someone's food sensitivity. I was accidentally wheated today at lunch. My body's response is to feel normal for about 4-5 hours and then go into a gruesome symptom set I won't describe except to say part of it is gut pain so extreme it's not at ALL irrational to want to call 911. Lasts 1-2 hours and has involved actual tears before. I'm okay now, over the worst of it. But just, if someone says they can't eat wheat, please believe them.
@alexandra Yeah, I have literally said to Greg, "I'm going to want to call 911, but just wait like ten minutes and see what I say after that," like this is the kind of pain it is. It's wild. It's maddening when people make jokes about it.
BIKE RIDE! :D Glorious! Easy 7 miles on my electric bike. Hung out at one end of the park for awhile, saw good things: A very fit, very nervous woman (in her 50’s?), waiting for someone - he showed up! A talking-a-mile-a-minute guy, obviously bonkers for her, they set out down a path, nearly holding hands (I bet they are by the end). A little boy learning to ride his bike, awww! Gaggle of teens walking by, speaking rapid Spanish, laughing SO hard. A bee rolling around in a flower. Many dogs! :)
Also I don't see a lot of conversations on here around somatic work for trauma and nervous system healing, but FYI if anyone's interested, I stopped the ride three times to sit with my bod and just listen to it. If you've been detached from your body because of anxiety/trauma, this can be really helpful. It's taken me a long time to sort of dial in my practice but it's working really well now. Should I write about this more often? Can't tell if anyone else is into this stuff.
Also here’s haircut photos. I think I found my in perpetuity hair style. Just long enough to fall past the Horrible No Good Bob range, not too long that I’m in the shower mentally calculating how many minutes of my life I’ve spent washing hair that I could have spent reading a book or ineffectively worrying about the state of the world. I asked her to blow it out so I could be super straight for a day (HAHA she did not think I was funny). The next photo is how I look normally.
@MsHearthWitch Ooooo very nice! I freaking love those. Even though I'm in a Hobonichi at the moment, the Travelers will always have a piece of my heart.
@MsHearthWitch I love that you can make your own booklets, too, that just scratches an itch I've had with planners for ages. I like making watercolor booklets.
If I was on the news covering the election results, I would simply stand up and shout "STOP! You've said all of the words. It's DONE!"
I just think at some point you have to recognise all of the words have been said and anything further would be devoid of meaning. From that point on, anyone that says 'deliver/ed/ing' should have to go to prison.
@TheBreadmonkey@purplepadma Sometime I think, "Okay, I'm only going to read Mastodon until I laugh out loud," and sometimes that's like ten seconds in.
CWG ops team meeting tomorrow morning at the usual time (7pt, 8mt, 10et, 16cet), but we do need to find a time that works for everyone.
I will post an agenda in Loomio. The basics are:
>check-ins,
>compensation log,
>reports and registration issues (we can talk about onboarding here)
>Ops team elections
>updates from TWG and OC
>other issues
> task list
Our electric tea kettle has died after just a few weeks - sprung a leak. This is our third kettle THIS YEAR. Manufacturing is basically crap now, I know, but I really, really need my tea. I gotta solve this. I'm thinking a stovetop kettle? But we have an induction stove.
Any #tea lovers have a favorite teapot/kettle that works on an induction stove?
