US prisoners are being assigned dangerous jobs. But what happens if they are hurt or killed? (apnews.com)

Blas Sanchez was nearing the end of a 20-year stretch in an Arizona prison when he was leased out to work at Hickman’s Family Farms, which sells eggs that end up in the supply chains of huge companies like McDonald’s, Target and Albertsons. While assigned to a machine that churns chicken droppings into compost, his right leg...

Well in the USA history and statistics probably back up that feeling.

How do you store your grounded coffee? (slrpnk.net)

Hiya, just quickly wondering how people store their coffee? Mine is in a tin box I got second hand, cos I thought it looked nice. Any rules regarding storing grounded coffee? I don’t store much at the time, it’s just if I grind a little too much and what not. I’m assuming the general thumb rule for this is to store it in a...

Same I grind fresh every time I make coffee and I generally only have one bag open at a time so my beans stay fresh.

So this is a programmer keycap set, with lots of options related to the key cap profile.

Cherry is one of the most common, and close to OEM which is what most mass market keyboards use. XDA is a lower profile key cap with rounded edges. SA is a very dramatic profile and reduces travel distance to upper row keys and looks more like 60s/70s terminals. MOA is kinda cool as its a square cap that lofts to a round top.

keychron.com/…/iso-oem-dye-sub-pbt-full-set-keyca…

This is another great set in OEM profile.

Do you mean that they the key press has nothing to do with the key cap, or just that the caps are unrelated specifically to *nix commands and shortcuts?

If you want the key press to send a specific *nix based command then you just program it to do that in QMK and create the keymap to fit your needs. You can even have multiple key maps and swap from one to another if you want a console/terminal specific map.

As for *nix specific key caps, there are not many out there and the sets I linked have some of the ones that could be used for specific tasks if you wanted. They are not perfect but they are better than a dedicated windows or co-pilot key.

I mean its been 30ish years since I used a SUN or DEC system, but I know the key your talking about, what I dont understand is do you just want the key cap, or do you want the functionality of they key?

Ok, now I am clear, if I see any unix specific key cap sets I will send them over. Sorry for all the confusion.

Boy Scouts’ police Explorer program has faced over 200 sexual misconduct accusations (www.nbcnews.com)

Birchmore’s case is among at least 194 allegations that law enforcement personnel, mostly policemen, have groomed, sexually abused or engaged in inappropriate behavior with Explorers since 1974, an ongoing investigation by The Marshall Project has found. The vast majority of those affected were teenage girls — some as young...

I won’t try to convince you otherwise but I had to make this decision. I decided that the only way I was comfortable was by joining the pack leadership. BSA has had problems and will again not because of the organization but because the people looking for targets will go where the pray is.

The organization trains every pack leader and each year there are courses that are required for both kids and parents to help educate, and protect kids.

If my pack has a pedophile they hide it amazingly well. We enforce the buddy system for both adults and kids. The only time a kid is able to be alone with an adult is in their own tent and when they are a family unit.

But if my kids going to a meeting so am I or another family member I can trust. Hopefully vigilance am me education will be enough.

I am not claiming its not their fault, but im not sure that its the history of abuse that attracts abusers, I really think its because its a volunteer based organization and there are kids in it so it makes them accessible to abusers.

The point I was trying to make is that it really comes down to your local leadership, and the parents in your pack. We have a good pack, we have involved leadership, and the guidance from the larger BSA organization when applied seems to be working.

Any time you have kids, and an organized group where adults interact with them you will have this risk. Summer camps, Schools, Sports clubs, anything. If you look at the history of nearly all kid enrichment programs you will find pedophiles and abusers.

I had two in my high school both of whom were teachers of mine, and I only found out years after. One was protected by the administration, the other hid is paedophilia in a buried chest in the woods for years.

thats the problem with every kid based organization.

Headline from the BSA today: “BSA Joins Forces with the Department of Homeland Security on the Launch of the Know2Protect™ Public Awareness Campaign to Combat Online Child Exploitation and Abuse”

I just think its fair to point out they are trying, even if I dont love the larger organization. I definitely enjoy my pack.

The first Alamo Drafthouse in San Antonio TX. More than a few good memories there.

A close second place is the Latches theater in Brattleboro Vermont. I got to watch dozens of classic films there at the turn of the century.

Yours has a different crimp style, but its a 1/4 turn shutoff valve with PEX crimp. Looks like standard builder quality.

Rising Sun, it opens with the violent rape and murder of a woman, it was rated R for a reason and we should have never been let into the theater even if it was my friends dad with us.

I think he wanted to see it and did not give a shit about what it might do to us.

I have 4 Keychron’s and have not had any mechanical issues, though I did have a missing foam layer in my Q0 Plus that was indicated as being part on the website. I did not care enough to follow up on it.

I find their QA good enough for the price point.

Any keyboard finder website with good filters?

I’ve been looking around to find a good keyboard for myself after having used a sad wireless membrane, so, after reading around a bit, as my first foray I decided I wanted a 75% with mechanical brown switches, but I’m finding it really hard to find a good list of keyboards that matches my description because I’d like the...
