Been trying to figure out why so many photos of snails/slugs are in photo app’s search results for “gas”, when I finally remembered they are gastropods.

More great moments with gas[tropods]!

small snail is climbing a tall plant stem, its shell has lines and whorls, not sure if they are inside where the slug interfaces with shell or growth patterns

Reading the wiki entry for the Dog vomit slime mold I ran across this morning they mention, "The levels of zinc in Fuligo septica were so high (4,000–20,000 ppm) that it is difficult to understand how a living organism can tolerate them." Apparently it “... produces a yellow pigment called fuligorubin A, which has been shown to chelate metals and convert them to inactive forms.”
Finland, Dutch, and Latvian lore refer to it as witches spit or witches butter.

I'm not sure what the camera is doing with the wings here, but no way that can fly.

Rainy day project, new wind spinner mount. Not having much CAD experience I tend to mess around until something looks plausible then do a test print. 1st issue: mount is too big for printer. No problem, slicer will cut and make connectors. Still a problem: I can't glue worth beans, dowel connector isn’t strong enough, and 3 metal pipes stress the joint. Maybe I can reduce radius enough to print without cuts? I didn't anticipate all of the twisting pipes would have even with two mounts. Seems like pipe slots should have set screws, or what if they were split and then clamped onto pipe with screw, hose clamp, or tie wrap? Hmm…

Rainy, warm, calm Sunday here in New England. At least there’s no shoveling to do afterwards.

Let’s take a quick trip back in time, see what they are up to in the 1940’s.

It's like watching people watch tennis, except with cats and birds. One of the cats managed to open screen door the other day and we aren't sure if someone (me) didn't slide it all of the way shut (no doubt) or if they've figured out a technique involving claws, metal screen, leverage, and cat muscles (not likely). Still, there's an odd sheet of plastic taped to the screen as a deterrent.

New This Old Tony video on over center mechanisms. The injection molded ones are really clever.
