@SciPyConf @scipy2023 sprints day 2: hooking up fastplotlib canvas to @napari ViewerModel (+Dims, LayerList, and Layer, but that came basically free 😍) with @caitlinllewis and @kushal = prototype browser/notebook front-end for napari. Probably most elated I’ve ever felt in a sprint. 😭😍😍😍

    a. task does not produce sufficiently potent neurotransmitters so you can't
    b. try to do higher-salience task to kickstart your brain

  2. higher-salience thing produces desired neurochemical reactions
    a. said reactions make you happy

  3. remember the boring task exists
    a. you're not working on it
    b. therefore you're a bad person
    c. therefore you should not be happy
    d. GOTO 1

I don't think it's possible to stop the tide of meaningless text and spam that LLMs will wreak on an open system, but how do we build sustainable semi-closed ones? I really don't want Discord to be the end result, as it's both totally unsearchable and will get more and more user hostile over time, much like Reddit.

I'd heard about how shit the new System Settings panel in Ventura was (mostly from @gruber), but (a) I'd hoped it would have been mostly fixed by now (waited a few months until 13.2.1 to upgrade), and (b) how can it possibly be this bad and still ship??? Apple is a Multi. TRILLION. Dollar company.

Nope, it hasn't been renamed! A search for "login" does not find the "Login Items" menu in macOS Ventura System Settings. WHY???
The macOS Ventura System Settings Panel. There is an active search for the word "bluetooth". This finds many settings but none about adding a bluetooth mouse, even though adding a bluetooth keyboard is found.
Indeed, there is a Setup Bluetooth Mouse button under the Mouse menu, but searching for "bluetooth" didn't find this option. WHY???

@gruber @autolycus I’d enjoy a post from you about why you think so (other than iCloud integration, which is its saving grace). I guess you weren’t using the many features Apple jettisoned such as Flickr integration or print books. I also had the pleasure of creating a slideshow recently and it was in infuriatingly buggy experience. Also sharing photos to non-Apple users with iCloud is a joke.
