It’s kind of a catch 22 though, isn’t it?

I’d love to put up a flag at my house, but at the same time, I don’t really want to be associated with most people flying flags like that.

On the other hand, the optics of flying the flag won’t change unless more average Americans start doing it too…

I guess the solution is to have multiple flags to make it 100% clear, US flag, State flag + I dunno, an LGBTQ+ flag or something.

1 year ago and were my top social media sites. Now I don't even contemplate returning to either. The has completely scratched those itches. Between @elk and @syncforlemmy, nothing is different from a UI perspective. Community is healthier in the fediverse. So thank you to everyone here who builds out infrastructure, tooling, and community for the fediverse. I appreciate it.

What I explained on reddit, before I left, is that their entire business model depends on monetizing free user submitted content, controlled by free user based moderation.

That model is INFINITELY replaceable. See digg, fark, slashdot.

You want your moderators to toe the business line but they aren’t employees and you aren’t paying them? Good luck with that!

That’s what’s hilarious to me… we brought Lorelai in at about 6 weeks, Rocket hated her instantly with the power of 1,000 suns, but our 3rd cat, Keanu, loves her. They are best buds.

But when we got Keanu and he was a baby and Rocket was 2, it was the exact same reaction.
