@pavel thanks for that -- it helps. Which time zone? ;)

You might find directories on my systems in which I have an autorun.sh.

Yes, I do have a bit of a warped sense of humour.

Some POS update to Sonoma I applied yesterday now alters sound output volume to 70% by itself without me doing anything.

It's always the same: new software -- new bugs.

"Because of the lack of clear signals of general adoption of DNSSEC over three decades, is it time to acknowledge that DNSSEC is just not going anywhere? Is it time to call it a day for DNSSEC and just move on?"

@icing how many characters can I write here ... ?

Geoff is a very intelligent chap, and there's a lot of truth in what he writes.

The tech has always been far too complex; thankfully the software we use is mostly up to scratch now (omg, those were brittle days) so there's little fallout, but if we look at the graphs he shows, the question he poses is extremely valid.

Is it really worth it? I'm ambivalent in spite of basically believing in it.

jpmens,
@jpmens@mastodon.social avatar

@shaft it can be arranged.

@bortzmeyer I think there is (was?) at least one more free ACME provider: ZeroSSL

@bortzmeyer @icing

it is not a problem only for DNSSEC nor do I think I said so.

We need you to sign this NDA for the training you'll be doing next week.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ. People; think before you write.

DNS is TCP/53 and UDP/53.

Bugger. I should have encrypted that to you.

jpmens,
@jpmens@mastodon.social avatar

@rw007 that's not bad -- I wish it would have ocurred to me.

On top of that for the training I'll add three days of saying nothing at my usual per/diem while people watch me and listen to my muted audio.

Client-side comments with Mastodon on a static Hugo website

https://andreas.scherbaum.la/post/2024-05-23_client-side-comments-with-mastodon-on-a-static-hugo-website/

This is interesting. Although when GDPR came along I stripped my blog from all dynamic / comment stuff, and I've not really regretted it much...

it is shocking the number of people working as freelancers who really struggle with the execution of generating a basic invoice.

Despite the fact that there is no shortage of free templates available.

jpmens,
@jpmens@mastodon.social avatar

@freyfogle I wonder whether one could google 'how to create a basic invoice'

git-crypt enables transparent encryption and decryption of files in a git repository. Files which you choose to protect are encrypted when committed, and decrypted when checked out. git-crypt lets you freely share a repository containing a mix of public and private content. git-crypt gracefully degrades, so developers without the secret key can still clone and commit to a repository with encrypted files.

But yeah, plain text is hard.
