I've been admining Linux systems for 25 years, and I still have to check which one it is every time.

@monsieuricon Pretty much the same, for a bit longer. The Dr. Suess-level mnemonic I came up with is along the lines of "One Fish, Two Fish": Old File, New File. It works for me.

./external/bsd/libarchive/dist/cpio/bsdcpio.1
.Sh HISTORY
The original
.Nm cpio
and
.Nm find
utilities were written by Dick Haight
while working in AT&T's Unix Support Group.
They first appeared in 1977 in PWB/UNIX 1.0, the
.Dq Programmer's Work Bench
system developed for use within AT&T.
They were first released outside of AT&T as part of System III Unix in 1981.
As a result,
.Nm cpio
actually predates
.Nm tar ,
even though it was not well-known outside of AT&T until some time later.

Did another pass through the clean-out excess keyboard pile and matched the AT&T base unit to a keyboard and mouse, with the monitor in or near this zip code. Not Skokie Illinois, MD where we had a Western Electric manufacturing plant for a few decades, right inside the city line next to Dundalk.

Took a screenshot of a few things I was trying out with #NetBSD10; the Zabbix dashboard has BSD Raspberry Pi wi-fi interface traffic, or lack thereof.
"Teenage Caveman" starred Robert Vaughn (later as the Man from U.N.C.L.E.'s cool spy Napoleon Solo), on VLC. With an #MST3K treatment.
