Lost Harley the cat this morning.

We've had him spread out on a towel downstairs the past couple of hours, took turns telling stories about him, the usual wake stuff, you know.

Kid's been watching over him while I do the work outside. Mad respect to sextons, it's hard bloody work.

Had to come in and do the grim job of measuring him, now having a quick cup of tea before I go back out and widen his grave a bit. Well, a lot really.

It's so weird that left wing party Labour NZ did some actual left-wing stuff and got a huge majority, and then pivoted to ruling out doing pretty much anything that might impact the precious status quo and consequently didn't get those votes? SO WEIRD. If only lessons could be learned from this, but alas, the reasons why this happened will forever remain a mystery.

Normally once I get going I can write pretty solidly, and reviews and rewrites are even easier. Having said that, the essay I am currently working on is like PULLING FUCKING TEETH and I don’t know why. The damn thing is due soon, and I am having the worst time actually kicking the thing off. Pretty sure I'm going to be all like “Fuck it, that will DO" and just turn it in no matter how rough it is.
