This is probably the shortest talk title in history, at very least at : "."

@honzakral takes us on the journey of self discovery, or in other words, explains how the dot works in .

@jugmac00 oops, it is @honzakral 😉

@honzajavorek @honzakral oh no... Thanks for pointing out.

Petr: "I have a lot of respect for Tim.
Tim learns Czech."

Tim: "It is like learning Rust."

I love the humorous way Kateřina Lesch presents her keynote on a somewhat sad topic "How Languages Become Extinct" at here in Prague.

Wonder no more why it is called ...

"Python Packaging: pyproject.toml build backends under the hood" by @hroncok at in Prague.

This is the right talk if you ever wanted to know how build backends work, and how wheels are built.

Meme showing that extension modules are hiding the fact that basically just distutils is used in the background.

@hugovk @hroncok @jensens @pythonpizza Thanks to @eumiro for pinging me from home about the bad audio. It was a bit of an odd situation as I was sitting in the first row in @ambv's keynote and I had to get up to reach our to the organisers - sorry for that @ambv but it was for a greater cause 😂

And thanks to Piotr for actually fixing the issue.

Karolina Surma (@karo) in "Licensing your Python project" shows the confusing licensing story for the various packaging tools. But there is hope...

Full house at in Prague.

I just gave my talk about "Your perfect development experience on ".

Thanks a lot to the organisers, the wonderful audience and my employer enabling me to have pizza with lovely folks from Prague and all around the world.

Setting at Python Pizza Prague, just before the start.
Picture showing a very old man, and the text: "Doing customer support is not stres sful at all..." (sic)
Tech setup in the background. Thanks a lot to all involved in making this work!

in Prague kicked off with a thrilling keynote by @ambv

I am not sure what I liked more, the whirlwind deep dive into 's gil, subinterpreters and jit, or the stunning images he showed.

This image symbolising the Apache webserver almost wants me to ditch nginx at work.

Łukasz Langa starts his presentation.

Is anybody aware whether the results of PSF/Jetbrain's developer survey for 2023 are already public?

hugovk,
@hugovk@mastodon.social avatar

@jugmac00 Not yet, the survey was still open as of 26th Jan until they reached their "respondent goal".

The survey is now closed, so hopefully we'll get the results before October like the last one :)

Are you afraid to apply black on your legacy code base as you would lose the benefits of git blame?

Fear no more, there is --ignore-rev and their likes, see this excellent blog post by @mheap

@jugmac00 @mheap Oh, that’s a nice tip.
