Tech, ham radio, hacking, weather. I enjoy experimenting with SDR, designing and testing antennas, contesting (usually with the team at KZ1W), SOTA/POTA, and satcom. Professionally I'm a hardware/FW/SW engineer and have spent most of my career in the drone industry. I enjoy making maps, both with drones and otherwise, with a focus on multispectral data collection and analysis.

Got Grinched (is there a Halloween equivalent?) today.

Left the bowl of candy on the front porch for 20 minutes to shower in case any kids showed up.

Came back and not only was the candy gone, the asshole took the bowl. Way to ruin Halloween for the kids who showed up right after you left.

@azonenberg this happened to us a number of years ago. Seriously kids, why the heck do you want a bowl? I got in extra trouble because it ended up being sentimental to my wife. Now we leave themed paper bowls when we go out candy begging with the kids.

@ethanschoonover @cascadiaradio Salmon Run is the Washington State QSO party 🎉. It runs from 9am Saturday to 5PM Sunday. Fun event to contact other WA stations and others. I got roped into running it so I have to advertise everywhere 😂

I donated most of my old model rocketry equipment to a local school but I keep this launcher around. Mostly to have it on hand to re-use the parts but if I'm being honest I enjoy how suspicious it looks on my workbench.

It has initiated more than one double-take.

@ethanschoonover that looks great! Just did a launch with 50 kids last night and wish I had a set of these. So much more stylish than the Estes launchers. Maybe I'll have to build some up for next year!

@ethanschoonover We had a few launcher failures, but our main bottleneck ended up being getting wadding and motors in everyone's rockets. We started pre-loading igniters into motors, but we had a lot of first timers so getting the wadding in and the parachutes packed was slower than expected.

Day 108 of - Couldn't post this last night, but Mastodon is working again, so here goes.

This is a front panel for a four-channel level meter, with two control buttons per channel. This connects into a larger system that I'm building.
