Has anyone seen seemingly random "corruption" of secrets in Github Actions? I have a workflow which stopped working. It uses secrets that we use in other repositories. It stops, I update and it starts working again. No one touched the vars since 2022.

Just took my socks 🧦 off and tried to drop them off in the kitchen. Then made it to my bathroom, but almost dropped them into the toilet 🚽 .

The Avocargo insolvency is juicier than expected: after selling all of their bikes to the public, the founding-CTO of Avocargo is now buying up the customer base as part of a new company.

Am I reading into this that the founders had a falling out and the CTO let the company run into the ground so he could pick its customers for cheap?

Hate to be agreeing with dh-h, but JS is fun and TS is a chore. Sure you can build more reliable software with TS, but few languages beat JS at that most enjoyable malleable exploratory stage where you mostly just write down what’s in your head, then find patterns of abstraction and reshuffle things until you have a proper software. Then you can sprinkle types on top.

@janl do you think it produces more reliable software?

The compile-to-js step alone and the abundance of things you can do wrong seems like it’s a not a great idea. Or maybe not at this time.

I think using ts for jsdoc is the sweet spot though.

Asking for an aging family member: what’s the state of the art for hearing aids for people who’d rather not have one?

@janl acceptance is crucial. And in my experience really hard to come by at times. 🫣

But TL;DR most hearing specialists have neat devices that can be calibrated with an app, come with different settings/modes and are very subtle. You can pair them to phones, tablets, TV etc. if needed.

From what I remember you then go back every 6-12 months for device checks. Kinda like a check up at the doctor.
