Downside of having a big display on my tv is that there’s always a bunch of ugly guys staring at me 🤣

Okay, so I'm going to type out a sentence, and I want you all to finish it, but instead of doing deep thinking about it, just type the very first thing that pops into your head. I know this will be hard for many of you, but try it! LOL

If I could do whatever I wanted to right now, I would _________.

knaaq,
  1. Coldcut - Sound Mirrors (2006)

The album art is way better than the music.

knaaq,
  1. Comets on Fire - Avatar (2006)

Freakrockin’ psychedelic space at the highest level. Awesome!

  1. Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Déjà Vu (1970)

I discovered’ this one pretty late (like 10 years ago) but it got a special place in my heart very quickly.

knaaq,
  1. Cult of Luna - Eternal Kingdom (2008)

There’s a lot of generic postmetal out there, but this one is right there at the top. Especially Ghost Trail is a monstertrack!

knaaq,
  1. Dälek - Gutter Tactics (2009)

Nice christmas vibe these militant and noisy guys bring :)

knaaq,
  1. Deep Purple - Made in Japan (1972)

My love for Sabbath and Zeppelin is bigger, but this live album is ace, look at the song list!

knaaq,
  1. Desert Mountain Tribe - Either That or the Moon (2016)

No-nonsense spacerock with indiefeel. Nothing wrong with that.

knaaq,
  1. The Devil’s Blood - Come Reap (2008)

Some 20 years ago Selim was my coworker and we bonded pretty quickly. He was fan of my band and I loved his doom-outfit Red King Rising. A few years later I heard the demo for his new band The Devil’s Blood. Although it sounded crappy, the songs were a whole new level. I was an instant fanboy and probably always will stay a fanboy.

knaaq,
  1. The Devil’s Blood - The Time of No Time Evermore (2009)

Damn, that middle part of House of 10.000 Voices! Christ or Cocaine! And what about The Anti-Cosmik Magick! And… yea it’s brilliant all over.

knaaq,
  1. The Devil’s Blood - The Thousandfold Epicentre (2011)

There’s so so so much (black) magic songs an parts on this record . My favourite TDB album, this one (and as you can tell from the second photo, I’m a fanboy yup)

knaaq,
  1. The Devil’s Blood - III: Tabula Rasa or Death and the Seven Pillars (2013)

Selim was a funny and entertaining dude. He chose to embrace his demons, instead of trying to run from them. That came with a lot of musical gems but also the decision to quit halfway making this album. Lyrics of the 22 minute opener I Was Promised A Hunt has the words ‘My words were never made for you to hum…’

knaaq,
  1. Les Discrets - Arrietes Oubliées (2012)

First time I heard Les Discrets was at 2015 and was immediately mesmerized by the sheer beauty of their music. This album is equally excellent.

knaaq,
  1. Doe Maar - 4US (1983)

  1. Het Droste Effect - Het Droste Effect / Lingerland

Friends with bands: buddy Hermann made some great spacestoner, with Thompson and some more sweet Eindhoven people. 2 EP’s are in this awesome package, including an oldschool slide

knaaq,
  1. DOOL - Here Now There Then (2017)

DOOL is absolutely my favorite Dutch band from the last few years. The perfect combination of doomy, gloomy vibes and catchy rock. Taking inspiration from The Devil’s Blood (including having 3 guitar players so it’s still heavy during twin solos) they absolutely deliver.

knaaq,
  1. DOOL - Summerland (2020)

And Summerland is even better. Title track is a monster and the record is packed with hooks.

knaaq,
  1. Various - Double Hard (1981)

Big names, decent compilation, but not my cup of tea anymore. Except Ace of Spades, Demolition Boys, Doctor Doctor and Paranoid of course.

knaaq,
  1. Earthless - Rhythms From a Cosmic Sky (2007)

get yo freakjam on. Psychedelic jambands can be boring but Earthless delivers.

knaaq,
  1. Earthless - Live at Roadburn (2008)

More jamming goodness. Too bad this was at one of the few Roadburns I missed.

knaaq,
  1. Eboman - Sampling Madness Pt. 1 (1996)

One of the top bigbeat releases in the hayday of the Chemical Brothers and imho just as good. Too bad he made some other careerchoices after this.

  1. Dexys Midnight Runners - Too-Rye-Ay (1982)

Nope

knaaq,
  1. Editors - The Back Room (2005)

Love all the indie darlings (Munich, Blood, Sparks, …), the whiney slow songs not so much.
