Mi tv stick is brilliant. But doesn’t play h265 and is quite slow. I usually start it at least 2 minutes before I fire up Jellyfin.

How can open source hardware be a movement if the raw materials still have to be mined and factory produced?

Am I not understanding FOSH (free and open source hardware)? I have always dreamed of open source hardware but it has always seemed unshakeably and fundamentally reliant on for instance massive open pit mines mining all over the world in finite dwindling supply wrecking local ecosystems every element necessary for computer...

What's a good piece of hardware to run a jellyfin server?

I’m wanting to set up my external Seagate drive with all my media on it to run a jellyfin server but I’m not sure which device to use. I’m thinking a raspberry pi but I’m not sure which one. From what I can tell from running the server on my laptop it is fairly CPU intensive for lower end systems...

I’ve bought $10 Igel thin client with some quadcore AMD shitcessor. It runs very snappy, even transcodes (that is not snappy), but as I never need to transcode, it works very well for me. I’ve mounted my TV and Movie & music colections from my NAS with CIFS and it works very well.

I’m running AdGuard home (at home on $10 x86 thin client) and simply opened ports on my router and pointed my domain to the ip. Worked like a charm. Then my ISP added me CGNAT, so I’ve added free VPS doing wireguard tunnel home, so everything works fine. I run AdGuard with Let’s encrypt certificates, so I use the private DNS setting in Android directly with my domain. I’m running my home net on an unlimited 4G LTE connection.

My Xiaomi 12 has 8GB. Those bastards close any 3rd open app in the background. Sometimes even the second back in line when switching apps. MIUI is pure shit.
