I would rather see a Ctrl key on keyboards. The common shortcuts work in text inputs on Android.

thanks!

using 3rd party client (and first “image post” I’ve made on this platform) and wasn’t sure how image post should be made.

Provide a “captcha” prompt, and ask which comes first in the list… You know, to make sure the user is a human! And you get free sorting.

I mean, this strangely is a compelling idea…

Do you find that you're on the fed more than you were on r/ just because you're really really excited to watch your favorite communities become more active?

I do, but as more people join I’m also feeling a little republican - i got my spot and this is good; everyone on the outside can go fuck off now. I don’t want it to get so big that it’s what we left. No intended disrespect or lack of acknowledgment to those who were here before.

I think I do, but only because, after using reddit, I know, or at least I have enough knowledge how these kind of forums work and can “work off” my initial excitement productively.

shit, I remember when first saw reddit, and the default frontpage, I had absolutely zero idea what’s going on. it was legit scary… had a bit of lerning curve, so most of the time I was just (trying to) lurk around.

általános csevegő topikoknak

user által kreáltakra, vagy ilyen “heti xyz csevegő” típusú posztokra gondolsz?

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

igen, ilyesmit szerintem is jó lenne többet látni

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

Cikkek, hírek stb. szerintem is lehetne itt is, akár megfelelő tegeléssel a címben, amit majd megálmodunk, hogy/mik legyenek

nekem bejön, jóféle!

yeah, moderated communities sometimes show up, sometimes disappear for me as well from the drawer list, even the app itself says I’m not subscribed to those for some reason.

also, would be really neat to have moderation features as well in the app, but I assume it’s not on the priority list (which is pretty much understandable)

I actually have a collegaue who uses the numeric keys as arrows and shit, he uses the NumLock pretty regularly.

He is the only one I actually know who does that, tho.

absolutely aggreed. swipe to open the drawer for the win.

Additionally, some people might even want an option to make that gesture always open the side menu instead of going back.

Thia would be really awesome, but in a way that back would open the drawer only when you are on the frontpage.

This would make the app so much more convenient. So much so it would prevent all of the unwanted/accidental close of the whole app.

I’m fine with it.

I mean… you can get information accessing the database. Can anyone access the instance DBs? No. How would you know reddit doesn’t log these in its database somewhere?

On it’s own, it’s not a problem IMO. Why would you want to show all information stored on the frontend? But, if you have to investigate something, it’s not that bad you have stuff in your database that can help it.

Granted, if an admin is a shitface, they can look at these information. And then…? Make fun of downvoting people? Go to other instance and that’s it.

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

If however all you need to do to see upvote count of all lemmy users, is to host your own lemmy instance, then there should be an easy way to also access that information

I haven’t thought of that, and you may be right on this.

However, I don’t fully understand this part:

there should be an easy way to also access that information in the front end to indicate to the user that what they up/down vote is in fact not private.

But it’s true that my brain today doesn’t really want to work. You mean by some kind of API call can reveal these information?

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, up/downvotes are somehow has to be tied to the user. If not, a page refresh should “reset” the state and you would be able to vote again.

kuneho,
@kuneho@lemmy.world avatar

yeah, you are right.

I think this is just a “side effect” of the decentralized nature. We need some pragmatical changes in our society to not to see these “side effects” as threats in any way.

for Android I think Connect for Lemmy is the best around. also, it gets literally better day to day since the dev is following the app’s community and fixes bugs, implements things from there super rapidly.

én nekem az a tippem, hogy azért van így, hogy a pontozott lista elemei kiférjenek egy sorba. ott van a bullet, szóval… a lista jellege megvan I guess…

ne kérdezd, ez miért jó/jobb…

What are new technologies I should be looking into / learning in my free time?

I’m a mid-level backend dev, ~3 years YOE. I wanted to seriously start thinking about expanding my skillset and learning new stuff / new technologies outside of my daily tasks. But I’m unsure of how to start, how to decide, what would be most helpful to my career, etc. Any advice?

as a non-native english speaker, I’ve always found this weird love for acronyms in english kinda strange 😄
