I’ve haven’t used Google search as main for years, but since yesterday DuckduckGo was down most of the day I had to use it. it’s surprisingly bad now, like I know DDG has improved over the years but G also went down in quality. And the generated “ai summaries” are crap lol.

I figured out yesterday that the recent "refactoring" of bus public transport changed a lot between my town and my workplace.

there's no longer a direct bus route and the alternative would be to take two bus lanes, in which the combined ticket value would be around 5€ and probably around 1h 20m trip

between that and just taking an Uber for 6.34€ and 20 minutes, there's hardly a choice

There simply is no established or easy way to detect backdoors done the way. We give powers and trust to maintainers because that is the development model.

Anyone suggesting there is an easy fix has not understood the issues at hand.

But we are Open Source which allows everyone to dig, check, read code and investigate.

@bagder in my mind, I imagine that there are probably some others in use right now...

and it is a LOT worst in closed source software, where no one can analise it thoroughly.

I'm sure there's still some broken stuff but I think my WordPress blog conversion to Hugo is in a state of "I should probably deploy and test and fix it as it goes live".
Deploying to production on a Friday here we go!!

been trying to convert my wordpress blog to static content and after a bunch of time I gave up on jekyll, the dependencies alone are a nightmare to get running, had issues in Linux and Mac, I think this will be a problem to maintain in the long run, even if I make a stable VM (...)

won't go back :)

(a side note, if/when you start building these sites for others, leave the actual binary alongside the site sources so that you don't need to keep updating stuff as Hugo progresses :))

it's so much insanely slower to drag the contents (1st pic) of a zip archive instead of pressing "extract all" (2nd). Like I know dragging involves another copy operation from temp but still. There must be some weird code in there

uff this collision code is terrible and not very flexible for shapes. Wonder if I shouldn't just use an open-source physics engine that is lightweight for 2D. is box2d still the goto, or anyone has other suggestions?

Grabbed an old game I made over 10y ago, and made it run in QoD engine, so it now works on Steam Deck, it’s kind fun (although I’m bias). It was an arena based bullet hell with all hand drawn + scanned assets. Was for iOS but 32-bit/SDKs Apple thingy killed it. Kinda makes me want to add more content and re-release it.
