The best (recorded) virtual talk I did during the pandemic is also my least viewed talk on YouTube. One of the worst talks I did in that period is the most viewed of all of my talks.

Funny how that works sometimes.

@anderseknert I want to watch both. 😁

Today I treated myself to some GUI programming with . I absolutely introduced a million memory leaks into my little program but there's a certain pleasure in having a UI right at your fingertips instead of having to keep a webserver running somewhere. The world needs more local tools. 🤔

The problem that the license change surfaced is not one of licenses but of CLAs. If you sign a CLA with a corporate entity you give them a carte blanche to do with the code whatever they like, including taking it proprietary. This is not new, the framework has been dual-licensed that way for ages. But now more and more companies are taking advantage of CLAs at the cost of open source software.

Before signing a CLA, think twice about the future impact!

Industry consortiums like the CNCF or Software in the Public Interest help mitigate the risk of being taken private. The best thing for a project is to not require a CLA at all. A DCO is all the legalese you need to accept outside contributions. The Kernel is prominent proof of this.

@exchgr @Sentry23 @briankrebs Oh I see, and now I actually found an article by Brian on the very matter (from early last year even): https://krebsonsecurity.com/2022/02/how-phishers-are-slinking-their-links-into-linkedin/
