1M subscribers channel that's more like a brand style than a person YouTuber has a video about how the job market is unstable. The narrator says "The average time an employee spends with their company is now at the lowest level ever" and a graph starting in the 80s and ending in 2022 appears on-screen for 1 second. I pause and read the graph. The graph is titled "Job tenure is steady" and it shows that in the past 40 years nothing has changed. UHHHHHHHH. What? I'm not saying nothing has changed, but what the heck is this? Did they think no-one would notice their graph to support the claim literally opposes the claim?

Btw, can we talk about how when I was in high school they taught us about how to protest effectively, about civil disobedience and why it's important, but my younger siblings that went to high school after the PiS school curriculum reform did not have any of that? (I was the last age cohort using the previous curriculum.) It's almost like PiS was trying to cripple democracy.

yeah, the future of online discussions has arrived in the as well: found the replies of a guy regarding energy to be a bit too suspiciously samey sounding, so I checked with an detector. lo and behold!

(is there maybe a browser plugin to detect this stuff automatically?)

@kyonshi remember that these ai detectors are as trustworthy as the things they are checking, meaning not at all. And they can cause harm, like flagging actual people (potentially neurodivergent people more often).

@kyonshi because the arguments for nuclear are always the same arguments (for context, I'm pro nuclear and a physics student)

  • Very clean
  • Very safe
  • Already viable to power entire countries as opposed to solar and wind
  • Mostly independent of geography as opposed to water and thermal
  • Bad around tectonic plates (see Japan)
  • Expensive in the short term
