Selfhosted Monitoring Tools

I’ve got a lot of services, some in docker, some in LXC or a VM in proxmox. Currently I’ve got no monitoring service. Recently a service went down and I didn’t notice for quite a while so now I’ve got a bunch of missing data. What monitoring tools do you all use? Looking for something that works with docker and plain...

Use my nextcloud for calendar, contacts, RSS reader, photo sync from my phone, office suite and others.

Was going to recommend nextcloud, but you don’t want another service to host.

It might be worth a look at nextcloud, to see if it has other tools you use.

I use keycloak for all by services that dont have any 2FA, I use an oauth proxy to front the service

Welp, I feel very poor now. UK VDSL 50/10mbps for the most part, about £30/mo I think.

Self hosted SSH key repository?

I have too many machines floating around, some virtual, some physical, and they’re getting added and removed semi-frequently as I play around with different tools/try out ideas. One recurring pain point is I have no easy way to manage SSH keys around them, and it’s a pain to deal with adding/removing/cycling keys. I know I...

I do this, use the small step ca/Cli to manage the lot. It’s amazing

That’s a long rant, but your on point with it. I have a colleague who refuses to try new things cuz they don’t understand that it makes life easier, I do tend to find the solutions that are simpler and easier to work

I would have a look at your networking as I have lots of cloud services setup on my home assistant running on a pi4, without more network info it’s difficult to say where you might have issues

mhzawadi,
@mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud avatar

can confirm this is an issue, I get the same issue. error about a json object

mhzawadi,
@mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud avatar

That’s amazing, who needs the internet anyway

The server I have with ovh has ipv6 setup, but only 1 of my VMS on it has an address. It’s a lot harder to get your head around then it looks, no NAT. Firewall everything

You do know that you can get more up to date packages from other sources?

I get nginx from them and PHP from an ex deb dev

mhzawadi,
@mhzawadi@lemmy.horwood.cloud avatar

I only use nginx now, the out of box footprint is tiny.

add this deb https://packages.sury.org/nginx/ bookworm main to your /etc/apt/sources.list to install the latest stable
