Lot of chatter about diss tracks in the wake of Kendrick eviscerating Drake. But haven’t seen much mention of the greatest indie diss track of all time, “Singer Songwriter” by Okkervil River. Will Scheff claims it is about no one in specific (I don’t believe him) but that just makes it more fun.

Totality in Colebrook, NH was the most incredible experience. Truly magical and awe-inspiring. Even though I (mostly) understand the science it was hard to believe it was actually happening in real time. People spontaneously applauded at the end, myself included.

If you ever have the opportunity to witness a total eclipse you must. Pictures and videos don't come close to doing it justice.

Saw Dune: Part Two on Sunday and I am still thinking about it constantly. Without spoiling any plot details the movie is packed to the gills with incredible visuals that will stick with you for a long time. I highly recommend seeing it on the biggest screen you can.

This Spectrum ‘97 release sounds phenomenal. Yes, it is silly that I bought CDs I'll never play just to rip them to digital, but the mix is 100% worth it.

@mrcompletely I got rid of my burned Phish CDs a couple years ago because I feel like between my hard drives and the internet that music is in a bunch of redundant places. But like you I now think of my commercial CD collection as physical backup. Also a personal history of a sort.

@mrcompletely @dan_s_12 @WolfGuitar this is a classic “reply that doesn’t answer the question” but this fairly cheap USB DVD writer from LG works seamlessly to rip CDs with the Music App (not EAC) to Apple Lossless (not FLAC) on a Mac (not a PC). 🙃

@mrcompletely @dan_s_12 @WolfGuitar It replaced a behemoth of a LaCie Firewire 400 48x CD-RW that I had been using. That thing was great, sounded like a jet engine ripping CDs but sadly the dongle chain to hook it up to a new-ish computer became untenable.

@psyentist This is way out of left field, but have you heard the Tucker Martine/Wayne Horvitz project Mylab? It is a jazz album but a bunch of the songs pull from trip hop, IMO. Basically it's one of those albums I recommend to anyone and everyone if it is even tangentially related to their interests.
