This salesperson has cold emailed me 8 times. That's no big deal, but what is surprising is that each is a forward of the ENTIRE thread. I'm not sure what their strategy is intended to accomplish. It seems self-defeating, as it lays bare exactly how futile this effort is. Am I to feel guilty for not engaging, perhaps? I really don't.

I guess bonus points for dogged perseverance, but negative points because now my opinion of that company is one of buffoonery.

I’ve previously expressed to my wife what a fragile bubble our lives seem at the moment. Our aging parents are all doing well, but their health becomes more and more of an issue with each call or visit. We’ve been fortunate, but I feel like we’re in borrowed time.

Then tonight my mom and stepdad announced they’re giving up their condo here and focusing just on their home in Indianapolis. The stairs are too much. And I fully understand but am simultaneously struggling to accept this moment.

A very lethargic #LFC early and Arsenal played extremely well. To be level is a gift. A good ball into Lucho from Gravenberch caused chaos.

Trent looks like a player not up to speed which is wholly unsurprising given that he’s missed time.

Reminds me of away at Man City a couple of years ago where Liverpool came out flying in the second half because Klopp told them to “have courage”

LFC’s bench will be the difference. Arsenal can’t keep up this level of intensity. Haven’t done so all year.

And because I am that petty, to follow Konate’s second yellow by ignoring Gabriel hauling Nunez to the ground and then booking Nunez for dissent is peak Anthony Taylor. He played no real role in the outcome, but I cannot fathom how he keeps getting assigned these games. He lacks any sort of consistency even within a 5 min span.

He’s on my Mount Rushmore of hated officials, alongside Paul Tierney & David Coote. I haven’t decided on a fourth yet. No others seem as malevolent/incompetent. #LFC

The real winners are Manchester City, as the top is wide open again. I don’t think Arsenal can beat them in the end, and this setback erases #LFC’s advantage. There are a lot of games to play, but laying an egg here hurts. The first real loss of the season, as Spurs doesn’t count.

One of the reasons I fell out of love with the NFL was the brutal long-term physical and mental damage current and former players suffered. The league gives lip service to making it right, but then exhibits unconscionable behavior:

Creepy night. Some rando was slowly driving laps in the small school parking lot next to the track, stopping occasionally before continuing again. Bit weird, especially that time of night.

Then they parked on the quiet lane alongside & idled for another 15 min. Lights on & conspicuous, but I definitely had my antennae up. There is a police substation 100 yards beyond the track, and while I thought it odd & likely innocuous, I was ready with contingencies if something developed. #Running

The only thing that was fast today was my heart rate, which was out of control from the outset. If you saw my HR, you’d have thought I ran strides. In hindsight, know I was a bit dehydrated, but otherwise I don’t know what’s happened to my fitness. I’m at a loss to explain it. It’s just vanished and that’s super frustrating. #Running

Song of the day: “I Don’t Know” by The Beastie Boys, which is so beautifully simple and elegant. It’s such a wonderful testament to their depth.

Thinking about Klopp's post-match comments about how massive Joe Gomez has been for #LFC. An argument could be made that he's the player of the season so far. His versatility has prevented serious damage to a campaign with injuries strewn all about the back line. He's played RB, CB, and LB in 18/21 league games, often playing out of his natural position. Despite losing Matip, TAA, Robbo, and Tsimi, LFC have given up a league low 18 Goals Against. And going forward, he's been so impressive. 👏

A relatively warm & foggy night, with intermittent bands of rain. Continuing to try to stay in my zone 2 HR, which I find to be difficult. I fully believe in the process, but I feel like I’m running with the parking brake on. Last time I did a poor job of it. Tonight was dead on.

Teenagers love it when you say, “oh good, you’re alive” when they finally emerge from their room well after noon. They are just too sleepy still to smile properly.

And the narrowing of their eyes is surely to focus better after such a deep slumber.

And what looks like a scowl is likely just a dry mouth in want of a glass of water.

Surely.

The actual verbalized hiss from my daughter though… still puzzling that one out.

My son’s indoor team had a doubleheader tonight, so my run was always going to be a late one. As a night owl, that’s no problem. 🌙🦉

Complicating matters was the windchill advisory going into effect right as I was wrapping up. It wasn’t so bad at the start, but my god how I could feel it plummeting! Ended up at 21°F/-6°C temps with windchill of 7°F/-13°C. I’m glad I won’t be out in it as it worsens!🥶

I did enjoy #Running in some very light snow flurries. That was kind of fun!

New guy shows up to the track after sunset. Mid-run, I slow to say:

Me: “just one patch of ice right there, otherwise it’s clear sailing”
Him, rudely: “I’m just walking!”
Me: “…”
Him: “…”
Me: “Cool. Well, now it’d be really dumb if you slip on it.”

A diminutive devil & angel appeared on each shoulder, rooting for their respective preferred outcomes. The devil was much louder! 😈

Coldest #Running yet at 19°F/-7°C, but still #TeamShorts territory.
