To be fair, if you read the interview with one of the workers, they tried many less disruptive approaches before turning to a sit in. I don’t they risked their jobs without reason.

I’m upset about the people supporting google’s right to make money over any ethics. I’m upset at the idea that employees should have no say in what the company they work for does. I’m upset at people who think this is a good thing.

The specific repercussions they faced is another matter. But no, I don’t think they were fair. Quote

Yeah, this was retaliation, like completely indiscriminate—people who had just walked by just to say hello and maybe talk to us for a little bit. They were fired. People who aren’t affiliated with No Tech For Apartheid at all, who just showed up and were interested in what was going on. And then security asked to see their badge and they were among the 28 fired.

They had to reach out after the fact to tell us, hey, I was impacted by this.

I still want something push based (without paying for those rss as a service)

The delay is there because email has no deletion support.

And a host of other shortcomings.

I’d rather we replaced email with matrix

If you’re relying on the remote server to delete something, you can’t trust it no matter what protocol you’re using.

I mean yeah I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but for the 99% of regular communication it’s fine. That’s no reason to not have it in the protocol and muck around with 10 second delays instead.

Well you can’t take the wide side eyes and put them in the front, you have to change them too

To maintain focus — as well as comfort on trackpads — simply clicking any region of a window while holding Super will allow dragging it to your preferred location and quickly get back to your important task.

Curious why you chose super instead of the usual alt?

Texas mfs in tears rn, the one advantage they had (size) has also been usurped by the californiatards

Based on the article, they seem to be following scripts. It’s unclear how well they even understand English.

The channels, which could also generate additional revenue through ad incorporation, would differ from free, ad-supported streaming alternative services like Pluto TV or Tubi, as they form part of a subscription service.

Welcome back cable TV I guess.

I don’t know even know what else to say, I’m just so tired of this

“Every time I am in public anyone can photograph (or video) me, but it doesn’t make it any less sleazy if someone is following me, taking candids of me in a compromised position, and posting them elsewhere. I probably can’t sue the photographer, but I also didn’t consent, and most reasonable people would agree that I have every right to be mad. Only a dickhead would say ‘well just don’t go out in public’.”

– somebody who gave me permission to quote them and asked to stay anonymous

This sounds very similar to a concept I was thinking of a while back, casual privacy:

What casual privacy isn’t, is a foolproof cage around my data. A deliberately malicious and powerful actor could no doubt still get a look into my home if they wanted to. They probably could manage to eavesdrop at the restaurant and certainly could walk around to get a different angle of my computer screen. That’s not the point.

quote source

It’s a different framing, but as far as I can tell it’s the same idea.
