Rudy Guliani Blows Past the $43,000 Budget He Committed to in Bankruptcy Proceedings (www.nytimes.com)

That amount would cover, among other expenses, $5,000 in alimony payments to his ex-wife Judith Giuliani, $1,050 for food and housekeeping supplies and $425 for “personal care products and services.” He was also obliged to cover $13,500 in monthly nursing-home expenses for his former mother-in-law; she died in March....

mosiacmango,

Its great and simple to make at home. Good bread, a clove of garlic, an avocado, salt and pepper. Make toast, rub garlic on toast then discard, evenly coat toast with avocado and finally salt and pepper to taste. Its creamy and filling, and you can easily modify it. Add chives or rocket, add hot pepper flakes or hot honey. Some bacon adds a lot, as usual.

Depending on where you live, the cost for this at a cafe will be around $10. 17 avocado toasts an hour x $10 is $170/hr. With 720hrs in a month, that works out to 122k/month, or roughly his budget. The posters numbers were spot on.

mosiacmango,

Stardates should be a standard calendar at least amongst themselves.

mosiacmango,

That was the house. The senate hasent passed shit and likely wont.

That bill wont become a law. Its just political theater in an election year

mosiacmango,

They didn’t in this article.

They directly stated that the student journalists were surrounded by pro-Israel counter protestors who knew their names and were intentionally pummeled and beaten while police fled the scene.

mosiacmango,

“Juice the next 3 months.”

Thats it. Thats the whole strategy each exec uses until they leave.

mosiacmango,

That’s not clickbait. Its the literal truth, and gives you a possible range of 200-900 people, as after that they would have said “thousands.”

Its not exactly 200, or they could have said 200. They have an ambiguous number to convey, so they used the ambiguous “hundreds” to do it.

Pretty direct and reasonable, honestly.

mosiacmango,

From up thread if you haven’t seen it:

Internally employees left at Tesla are calling this the “Snap”. My friend was building over 10 new sites and breaking ground on 3 others. Contractors are getting fucked and have no one to contact. Overnight 100’s of sites with 100’s of contractors, design companies and suppliers working on them are just in limbo with not a single person from Tesla reaching out to them and their contact laid off. Lots of layoffs are going to be tied to this.

Not only does this affect the building of new sites there’s now not a single employee that can perform maintenance at any of these locations.

mosiacmango,

Trump doesn’t like dogs, or any other pets.

Maybe her story was just a direct pitch to him.

mosiacmango,

Wild how the poster above terms suing a man for shooting you in an act of blatant racism as “race baiting” by the victim.

It’s like his brain is on backwards and he knows racism is involved, but he can’t acknowledge what actually happened so he has to blame the victim for it.

mosiacmango,

No, he literally replied to me saying the victim is race baiting.

If a man ~50 years younger than me that I don’t recognize/know knocks on my door at night, regardless of his race, I would be concerned. Would I just shoot him? No. Would an 80 year old man just shoot him? apparently, I guess… But equating it to racism, without any evidence, is simple race baiting…

The old man is clearly in the wrong, that doesn’t mean he is racist just because the kid was black

mosiacmango,

And that number was just the cases voluntarily reported or with legal cases that the AP could find.

Since we have literally zero reporting requirements at a federal level for police departments, it could be 10-100x as many deaths.

Judge in hush money trial threatens Trump with jail after holding him in contempt for violating gag order (www.nbcnews.com)

Judge Juan Merchan ruled Trump in contempt for nine violations of his gag order, with a fine of $1,000 for each instance. He warned in the decision that he would not tolerate further violations of the order and said “if necessary and appropriate under the circumstances,” he would impose “an incarceratory punishment” on...

mosiacmango, (edited )

1k/each infraction is statutory in New York state. The other option is jail.

The judge is using the maximum of the lower level rebuke first, as he should with any defendant. Hes also made it clear he will use the harsher penalty if it doesnt stop.

Seems entirely fair and reasonable.

mosiacmango,

Speed limits suck at slowing people down. It’s much more effective to change the size and shape of roads. Slimmer roads, with roundabout’s and more pedestrian right of ways slow down cars.

mosiacmango,

They did already. It was legalized in Bidens IRA.

Looks like the NHTSA finalized the rules allowing them in feb, 2022.

mosiacmango,

Apparently the story was known locally in south dakota political circles, so there is conjecture this is her trying to get out ahead of it if she was nominated.

mosiacmango, (edited )

Don’t forget that he had to be told that being shot in the legs is a deadly injury because of the major arteries.

The previous president of the united states thinks action movies are real.

This is an average day at a waffle house:

https://media1.tenor.com/m/x_6mJBohrHkAAAAd/i-can-do-this-all-day-waffle-house-fight.gif

It is a legendary battle arena. Its employees are renowed for their prowess, and would likely do well in the brutally war torn setting that is warhammer 40k.

mosiacmango,

She did have a gofundme that raised 18k at least, so that’s something.

mosiacmango,

Of course the Internet has made it worse. It did so initially by giving a platform to hucksters, fascists and frauds that let them find like minded people that otherwise would not have convalesced around them.

Social media optimized this process, and now algorithms design entire custom made echo chambers that reinforce and amplify the outrageous because it profitable to do so, as rage and violence keep people on the platform, churning though ads.

Youre right that capitalism, the unending profit motive that must increase is the true source of the damage, but the internet has been a powerful engine in its conquest of truth for profit.

mosiacmango,

Seriously.

Gay agenda : we exist, please acknowledge our rights as people and treat us with basic human respect.

Bigots : Can’t be done.

Thr article leaves out the detail, but this is the guy who charged into a bathroom and threatened to kill Tapp at a halloween party after someone told him he offered his step daughter drugs. The party was hosted by an F1 driver apprently, but that may be speculation.

There was then a bang and a scuffle sound. Rodimer apprently slammed Tapps head into a table and was chocking him out until his wife intervened. After that, the murderer left. Tapp was then laid out on a bed for hours with party goers tending to him, including Rodimers wife. Someone finally called the paramedics, and he died in the following days.

Rodimers wife texted rodimer that night that no one should have to witness their husband kill a man in front of them and then filed for divorce soon afterwards.

Here is an article with more detail.

mosiacmango,

Here you go.

Also the corresponding graphic to make it clearer:

mosiacmango,

You realize that the percentage of your income that is taxed is a fixed number regardless of state, right? That 1% of 60k in California is the same as 1% of 60k in Texas?

It very directly shows that poorer people in Texas pay more than poorer people in California over the wide range of taxes in each state. They fully take into account land ownership or not, which you can confirm by reading the linked article in the comment:

The graphic reportedly contains 2018 data from the Institute of Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP), which compiled statistics regarding IRS income tax, sales tax, property tax, and information from Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Expenditure Survey from sources including the U.S. Census Bureau

mosiacmango, (edited )

Youre talking about the total dollar amount of taxes paid, which is irrelevant because of regional differences. What you can compare is percentage of income, which is a metric that works regardless of total dollar wages.

Someone paying $100 to the tax man when they only make $5000 is more of their money then someone paying $200 to the tax man when they make $15000. The first person is paying higher taxes. The total dollar amount is irrelevant compared to the percentage of income paid.

The data is very clear. Almost all Texans pay more of their income to state taxes than almost all Californians. The fact that California provides a more than doubled minimum wage than Texas while taxing people less is a feather directly in their cap.
