I’m with you. Your movie reference really helped solidify it. I assumed I was one of the lonely minds, but this made it clear.
Some things that seem associated with this are my constant cravings for social interaction and intellectual conversation. I can’t give it to myself. I have never understood how people can just do nothing. I never had an invisible friend as a kid. There are many things people say and do that could be explained by having personal voices. There are many struggles with communicating to others that have already had a conversation with themselves before I can share a full thought.
It has always amused me that the tourists to the US that I’ve spoken to are often very excited to see raccoons, and disappointed if they don’t see them before they leave....

I dont know if this has been asked before or if this may be a little goofy of a question but I didn’t see anything relating to it and I’m kinda curious what the culture of Lemmy is like and what sort of common things people see. ive been paying attention to interactions but nothing is as good as just asking everyone.
I am a nonconformist American in my 40s. I’m a Florida native and middle school science teacher. I hate perpetually divisive culture and the corruption that drives it. I read mostly non-fiction, such as history and neuropsychology. I have little to no interest in computer tech, anime or video games. I left Reddit last year like many of you.
This got me thinking about fascist takovers. Once those parties took power, they ended up taking over industry. However, in America it seems to be reaching the same goal through the opposite path. Industry is taking over the government. The parallels are scary. I am living in fear of violence from my neighbors. I see no path of escape. Malicious ignorance is insurmountable and booming.
There is actually a lot of controversy over hatchery salmon. They can cause more problems than they fix. That doesn’t mean this wasn’t some vegan psychopath, though.
I believe that was a slight visibility in the UV spectrum. Like, if the color of undergarments didn’t match the outfit, then it would glow. I don’t know much more about it.
