I grew up in a city of more than a million people, which was also an important shipping port for oil, imported goods and cocaine.

So, I got used to there always being somewhere to get food.

It's not easy getting used to small-town life.

A pair of eyes that say "please don't crush me"

and also a second pair of eyes

and also a third pair of eyes

I'm not sure who this guy is, on first sight I thought it might be a pseudoscorpion, but on closer inspection it does not appear to have pincers - so it seems to be some kind of spider.

Another photo of the same spider from a diagonal angle, showing four eyes and the front legs, which are quite beefy. The spider is dark colored and standing on a wood table. Most of the body is blurry and out of focus.
A side view of the same spider. This shows that the body is elongated and dark and has a few bright yellow spots on the side.

someone steals a bicycle and leaves it on your front porch

it sits there for four weeks untouched

at what point can you claim it?

My lil cousin started working the mixer at a local club so I went to see her and the show.

This guy went by "Mo$" (Mo-Dollas), and was a pretty good showman.

The US government publishes a yearly list of online and physical marketplaces specialized in trading pirated and counterfeit goods, which is... convenient, so you can avoid them.

This list includes Sci-Hub, Cuevana and Greenhills Shopping Center in Manila, which is pretty eclectic.

Imagine being a pre-Inuit wandering into the north-american wilderness, the first human to ever do so.

Behind you are the blood feuds of the tribes of the old country, and before you virgin forests, lakes and prairies, teeming with game, fish, water, flint, food plants and medicinal herbs - anything you could need, with no other human around for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Paradise must have been real for some brief moments in time.

Holy shit, the damage in Houston from last nights storm is far worse than I imagined.

"4 dead as destructive thunderstorm blasts Houston

Meteorologists compared the wind damage to a hurricane."

I am an absolutely horrible person, just a dreadful human being. But there is a part of me that has schadenfreude when climate denier, big oil worshipping, fascist states have bad shit happen to them.
It just sucks ass that the poor bear the brunt of this.

I just found this channel called Ancient Americas that does long documentaries on the history and archaeology of the Americas.

It's great.

This one discusses some recent discoveries concerning the settlement of the Americas.

Why isn't @ufwupdates more popular? This seems like the kind of thing that should go viral in the fedi.

This microscope lens for my camera is one of the coolest things I've ever made.

Anytime I find a tiny bug in my place I get my mind blown.

Case in point: Can someone help me identify what it is that I found? I don't think I've ever seen anything like it.

Found in Raleigh, NC.

The front door of my shop was inundated with these things last summer; thousands of them all around the entrance. I let them be. Customers didn't seem to mind. I cleaned away their husks when they were done. I found them June 27th and I think they were done by about July 5th. They were all the way to this column, on the door, up the other side of the door, and all over the storefront. Our neighbors on either side were virtually untouched, but their fronts are mostly glass.

There's a guy called Pedro Neves who is designing and building a Tadpole cargo trike with tilting front wheels (for better ride quality).

He's sharing his design for free, because, as he says in his comments:

"I love the learning process and the sharing of knowledge. And because making stuff makes me happy, I try to incentivize others to do that too."
