Howdy all! COYG! :)

The Saliba stat of potentially being the only player who has played every game for Arsenal is astounding

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

Same, love me some ESR and because there feels like potential there. I’ll be sad about Ramsdale and Tierney as well, but I don’t see them coming back into the squad now.

@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

I’m very much in the same boat. I’m just trying to focus on our games and try not to think about how annoying City are.

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

I had the same issue too. But Smith grew on me real quick

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

I wish them to be legally blasted out of existence.

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

We did, I can’t argue against that. But Manchester City haven’t lost since last year…

If it wasn’t for them, we could have had maybe 1 or 2 trophies. Imagine how many Liverpool could have had…

You’d think he’d be sick of it already, but he’s like a fruit fly that won’t fuck off. You can spray them, swat them, yell at them, but they’re still there…

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, don’t blame him on that front, tbh. Isn’t that what most of us want in life?

I honestly don’t know and it’s an interesting question. You could argue that Manager X could be consistent, but possibly drop more points. Then, over time, as they bring in more of “their” players, there’s a shift and they drop down in the league rankings.

I think the only club that managed to maintain some modicum of success under similar circumstances over multiple managers was Chelskie. The exception being that City are actually run professionally (although allegedly corruptly) and the other was to keep throwing shit at the wall until something stuck. Fucking Chelsea…

In all fairness, I only know them as subs mainly because of Subway. Before that, I probably would have considered it a roll.

But I am Australian

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

He was a tough one to beat. In my opinion, almost everything was on point during his run of the doctor. If I had to choose a point when it peaked it would probably be maybe his last 1 or 2 seasons. Matt Smith is still really good, i think the production value is probably a bit better, feels a little grittier and there are great stories and story arcs, but (and I will preface this is how I felt) the show doesn’t get any better after Smith, but eventually starts to dip.

Agreed

Ornstein: Arsenal summer recruitment will have specific focus (dailycannon.com)

In addition to bringing in some players who can slot right into the first team’s starting XI, Ornstein predicts we will be putting a lot of focus on recruiting for the older end of the Academy. While there are a handful of phenomenal prospects emerging from our academy, there’s a feeling that they need young players of a...

This is something I’ve wanted for a while, but we’ve dropped out of cups so early and been in league positions where Arteta has erred on the side of caution.

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

Well earned! I was sceptical and worried about him joining us, along with Havertz after Willian’s tumultuous time here.

But, just comes to show how little I know and how much of a shambles Chelsea are in. Always glad to be proved wrong in my assumptions and the amount they’ve both contributed can’t be understated

I read MLS are introducing new rules next season and I think these are some good changes worth implementing:

Off-field treatment rule• If a player is suspected of injury and remains on the ground for more than 15 seconds, the referee will stop play and call for medical staff. The player will be removed from the field and remain off for at least two minutes for evaluation and treatment.

Timed substitution rule•Substituted players must leave the field within 10 seconds. If a player doesn’t leave within 10 seconds, the incoming player must wait 60 seconds before entering.

In-stadium VAR announcements•Referees will announce and explain VAR decisions.

Which episode is that one? They all blur into one for me now xD

Get your tissues ready. Tennants last episode hit hard the first time I watched. I think it got me the last time I watched too

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

It took me a little bit to warm up to Smith. But what a guy. Tennant was my doctor, but it’s neck and neck between him and Smith

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

100% agree. I know it’s a time wasting tactic and you kinda expect your team to do it to wind down the clock, but it can be so infuriating when it’s the other way around.

I’m all for having a set time and then it’s all square across the park. That being said, the crack down on time wasting in the PL is as effective as a clown at a funeral. If you’re going to crack down on timewasting during subs, do it across the park. Especially for some goalkicks…

I know a couple, but I think the energy and charisma of Tennent sold me. I think the production value and stories picked up, which helped too. Who knows what may have been if things went differently with Eccleston. He was treated quite poorly, which is a shame.

I was so looking forward to Capaldi, but I think the quality of the show dipped for me and some of the writing and story lines were meh. I admit that coming off the back of Smith and my expectations is probably why I didn’t take to him as much. Then Whittaker happened, and that killed all enthusiasm I had for the show. But, I’ve been slowly going back and rewatching them with my gf and some friends. With some time I’m hoping Capaldi will grow on me.

I definitely recommend watching some of the older stuff, although I think it’s quite dated xD. I used to watch the older episodes, maybe 15 years or so ago. Saw a little bit of Pertwee, watched all of Tom Baker and loved him (he pretty much set the tone for future Doctor"s being quirky oddballs), saw some Sylvester McCoy who I liked as well. Maybe little bits of Peter Davidson?

Its kinda cool to see how some of it connects to the reboot. Whether through characters, enemies or references.

@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

Mmm… I always had a soft spot for him and was sad he left. But yeah… I’m not sure on that one. Maybe depending on price, he could be preferred as rotation.

He’d probably be a good leader to have in that position in training and in the dressing room. Could even maybe look to join/be part of the coaching staff, if he’s that way inclined?

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

What an astonishing run… who knew Xhaka would play part in an invincibles like team, lol

4 more games to go, I think? Man… I hope they go on and do it.

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

I’m no expert, and it was only highlights, but it just stood out. To me, it looked like Eriksen was trying to set up for the attacking set piece in the moment, which maybe indicated it wasn’t one they ran drills on or practiced.

I guess, also to the point you made, they seem to be short on leaders, which is something we suffered with for a while too.

There’s so many reasons this should be an easy fixture. But it is Manure who have a player or 2 who can pull shit out of their arse and have it turn to gold.

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

I don’t think it’s as bad since I first saw it, but I still really don’t like the kit, lol. It was different though?

I think my favourites from Addidas are still 21/22 blue lightning 3rd kit and 19/20 bruised banana away. There have been some other really quality jerseys, though, but those are the ones I’ve worn the most.

Also, because I have Ødegaard on the 21/22 one xD

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

Right, I thought so. She essentially saves it. I want to say that maybe there’s no way of reversing what happened, but there are so many possibilities and universes that it seems impossible there isn’t some solution.

Which kinda leads me back to it being a fixed point in time. Which also feels like a bit of a cop out excuse

nuggsy,
@nuggsy@lemmy.world avatar

Yeeeaahh… you’re not entirely wrong there, lol
