The movie industry is going to go ballistic when they see this. The AI is capable of making movie clips in response to simple prompts.

In the sixth slide-show, the seventh clip done in tilt-shift mode was impressive

Rocket packs have drawbacks.

Jet packs carry chemical fuel but uses atmospheric oxidizer. About 10 minutes before the fuel is used up.

Rocket packs carry both fuel and oxidizer. About 30 SECONDS before the fuel is gone.

Hard to increase duration, short of nuclear energy.

Users typically fly with rocket packs at an altitude too low to use a parachute (below 30 meters) but too high to survive the fall (above 9 meters)

Are we visible to advanced alien civilizations?

We considered the question of how our artificial constructions are visible to advanced extraterrestrial civilizations. Taking the universality of the laws of physics, we found that the maximum distance where the detection is possible is of the order of 3000 ly and under certain conditions Type-II advanced alien societies might be able to resolve this problem

An old classic "what if" question is What scifi novel or movie would you like to live in?

Adult me is skeptical of most of them, they all have drawbacks.

Child me instantly knows my heart's desire.

Space artists might want to look into NASA's JPL modular habitat system. The mix-n-match modules can be shuffled to make a wide variety of spaceships and habitats.

Mastodon, please help me.
I am trying to locate a music video I saw about a year ago, and foolishly neglected to write down the name.

It was a lilting song with vocals, featuring a smiling but silent lady dancing in the back yard of a mansion, while doing the lyrics in sign language. At the end she is standing inside an elegantly sculpted circular opening in a large brick wall.

Does this sound familiar?

Boy, my 12 year old great-nephew just made me feel totally inadequate.

Apparently he listens to podcasts while simultaneously reading technical books on totally different topics. His father (my nephew) has given him tests and his comprehension of both cast and text are excellent.

As a drawback, he does suffer from severe ADHD. His mental world is like he is surrounded by falling scraps of book pages, and he has to read each one before they hit the ground.

I'm trying to remember scifi novels featuring interstellar colonies created by emigrants from the state of Texas. Basically cowboys in outer space. So far I have:

For Texas and Zed by Zach Huges
Lone Star Planet (aka A Planet for Texans) by H. Beam Piper

But I have a nagging feeling I am forgetting a third novel. Does anyone know any others?

Well, my smartphone just screamed at me. It informed me that at 5:00 EST the army Corp of engineers will be using explosive cutting charges to slice up the part of the collapsed Francis Key Bridge which is currently draped over the cargo ship.

They said anybody within 2,000 feet should either wear hearing protection or hide inside a house.

I will comply...
