@dr2okevin Dein Vergleich hinkt etwas, finde ich. Ich sehe da zwei wesentliche Unterschiede:

  1. Es macht für unsere Lebensgrundlagen keinen wesentlichen Unterschied, was für Handys die Leute benutzen.

2.Die Umstellung der Produktion ist (zumindest) bei Autos eine größere Aufgabe, für die ich ein klares Signal von der Politik sinnvoll finde - insbesondere, wenn es große Firmen gibt, die ein starkes wirtschaftliches Interesse daran, mit dem alten Modell noch so lange wie möglich zu verdienen.

@dr2okevin Ich schwanke ehrlich gesagt auch zwischen „2035 ist viel zu spät, und wir müssen viel früher aus den Vebrennern raus, weil es der Markt nicht schnell genug regelt“, „der Markt regelt rechtzeitig, und das Verbot ist 2035 eh egal“ und „ich habe bestimmt etwas übersehen, und das Verbot 2035 verhindert noch Schlimmeres“ (und möglichen Kombinationen davon).

Input erwünscht: Ich suche für meinen Arbeitgeber günstige 4G/5G-Modems, um sie im Falle eines Internausfalls als Failover nutzen zu können (mit einem entsprechenden Vertrag dahinter).

Aktuell im Blick: Der TP-Link TL-MR100 und die AVM FRITZ!Box 6820 LTE bzw FRITZ!Box 6850.

Wichtig: Die Box muss einen LAN-Anschluss für die Verbindung mit unserer Infra haben. Mehr also 150-300mbit muss nicht.

Hat da jemand noch alternative Tipps?

@Katti Ich benutze (u.a.) für genau diesen Einsatzzweck einen ZTE HyperMobile 5G - MU5001. Ich hab allerdings gerade nicht im Kopf, wie viele IPs der eingebaute DHCP-Server bereitstellen kann.

@nachdemsturm Collmex (ist ein SaaS, also auch ein Abo): Buchhaltung (Bilanz und EÜR), Rechnungsstellung, Timetracking, Mahnwesen, Warenwirtschaft, Anbindung ans Konto, Anlagen/Abschreibungen. Ich (Einzelunternehmer) + wir (GmbH) sind damit recht zufrieden.

Das Dumme ist, dass der Wahl-O-Mat nur die vollmundigen Wahlversprechen der Parteien berücksichtigt, also was sie in Zukunft tun wollen, und unberücksichtigt lässt, wie sie sich in der Vergangenheit verhalten haben. Korrekterweise müsste er also »Versprech-O-Mat« heißen.

Deswegen wähle ich auch eher danach, was die Parteien in der letzten Legislaturperiode so getan (oder gelassen) haben (plus etwas strategisches Wählen), und nutze den Wahl-o-Maten eher dazu, meine Wahlabsicht zu bestätigen und mich dabei gut zu fühlen. 😉(Das setzt natürlich voraus, dass ich regelmäßig eine gute überregionale Zeitung lese und einen informativen Radiosender höre.)

Does anyone remember what our CI pipelines looked like before docker and cheap cloud services?

I hardly remember myself because when I began web development the whole team worked on the same code on a samba share and we had to shout into the room: "Is anyone working in foo.php right now?"

So no CI at all. But those who did it early, how did you do it? On bare metal I guess?

@alexanderschnitzler Yes, bare metal with Jenkins. Wrangling the PHP versions, Jenkins plugins etc. was a real pain.

I have upgraded two systems to 24.04 now and also tried as snap (which is the default for Ubuntu 24.04) on another machine.

The system upgrades were incredibly smooth. Thunderbird in general also works fine, but it doesn't support with private keys on a yet (which is my usecase). (Yes,there is a workaround, although clunky.)

So it looks like I'll stay on 23.10 a bit longer on my main machine.
