Newish user migrating to Linux

I have been using Arch Linux with i3wm for around 5 years for work, on my ThinkPad. I am fairly comfortable with pacman and setting up a distro. I have previously tried Mint, Manjaro, KDE Neon, Elementary, and MX Linux, all for the same use case (Work: where I need a browser, Slack, and a MongoDB GUI)....

Try openSUSE tumbleweed in a VM if plasma is your thing. IMHO is one of the best plasma implementations I’ve tried.

I’ve been using it for a year now, does everything I need. No problems whatsoever in gaming.

The only thing I had to do, was enable a extra repo in YAST for installing the codecs to be able to play movies and such.

Indeed I’m, try it in a VM in whatever system he wants.

openSUSE tumbleweed normal installation image doesn’t have a live system to try. Although there is a live image to try it in a VM, but you can’t use it to install. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Better to try it in a VM before having the work to install it on bare metal.

Question about Messaging app in LineageOS

Hello. I note that previous versions of the LineageOS Messaging app had support for including emojis. This recent version does not include such an option. The keyboard choices are simply either letters or numbers. Is there a way to once again have this option in the LineageOS Messaging app?...

What keyboard are you using? I’m on HeliBoard and if I long press , there is a emoji icon. I’m also using LineageOS 21.

I had more or less the same problem in my laptop and in my main PC. But you can get around it just by login again and doing the update through zypper. I believe it restarts the session 3 times, and one of those after login, you just have a black screen. Use Ctrl+Alt+T to bring up the terminal and zypper dup again. After zypper is done just restart and everything will be fine.

Did this with both PCs and both are working with no problems.

Well, if they just stick to adapting the books (and to my knowledge the story is finished) I’m OK with it. With GoT the problem was mostly when the source material was over, till then they did a good job adapting the story.

Are there any comicbook you revisit often?

I have been thinking about this, there are some videogames i usually revisit every year or so like some older Fable and AC games. I dont reread comics that much, outside some outstanding issues like The brave and the mold from Tom King’s Batman or Lemire’s Green Arrow, but those have been more occasional rereadings more than...

Try changing to anonymous (same menu where you add an account) and them try to login again.

I had the same problem, and there is a bug that if you try to login while using another account it results in a login error.

One word of advice to OP: don’t wait till you can’t use Windows anymore. Start by dual booting and getting a hang of Linux, but with windows at the ready for any tasks you cannot yet do/feel comfortable doing on Linux. As you get a better hold of Linux, you should naturally begin to use Windows less.

In Android, how do I choose specific sites to go in my new team page and stop it adding useless link?

I recently switched to Firefox on Android from Chrome for obvious reasons. It’s great! Except the new tab page is a piece of shit. I’ve already disabled all the sponsor rubbish and stuff*, I want to choose specific links to put there and stop it from adding links to random places I happen to visit that I can’t get rid of...

I’m not sure if this is what you are asking for, but: Open the site you wish do add. Touch the 3 dots in the address bar a choose add to shortcuts.

Portugal uses “rabo” or “cu”. “Bunda” is more a Portuguese Brazilian thing.

It has some differences like UK English and US English.
