Time for the Wheelhouse of Horrors with László Kiss-Kollar.

Wow, numpy’s wheel contains 964 files.

Also apparently they ship their tests in their wheels (boooo).

“All of these examples are actual wheels on PyPI; in order to protect the innocent, I’ve removed the names.”

Watching this talk: “Lalala if I can’t hear you this can’t hurt me!”

Gif from Dumb and Dumber with Jim Carey putting his fingers in his ears and going "lalala"

Did you know that you can just tag your wheel manylinux without actually making it manylinux compliant?

László’s bottom line: Adopt cibuildwheel.

Turning on and off the lights and changing their colors with Python, apparently using the same pub sub protocol that FB messenger uses.

Handing out raspberry pi based devices that use MQTT to play multi-player snake and display the results to the room live. 😯

Next level live demoing.

My takeaway from @glyph’s talk: give all your passwords to a CLI tool you installed from PyPI to help you memorize them: 😉

@glyph “If you learn anything from this talk, it should be, ‘Use the keyring module’”

Too late! I already learned a different thing!

@hynek Protocol: “brand new” feature from Python 3.8.

@brettcannon At the SC panel, you asked people to make beta wheels, but cibuildwheel says not to? https://cibuildwheel.readthedocs.io/en/stable/options/#prerelease-pythons I guess I need a more nuanced reading of the advice...?

Reminder: If you are attending PyCon in person, you also have access to the Online streams through your dashboard. Useful for watching the morning lightning talks on your way to the conference if you are running late 😉

(Though for some reason the stream right now doesn’t have any sound 🙁)

Mario’s lightning talk last year was, quoting my tweet at the time, “[a] banger”, probably worth getting up for this one.

Caught up with @brianokken and @mkennedy, who for some reason weren’t talking at 3x speed in person.
