pizzawithdirt,

I really like Void Linux. It is a bit harder to use if you’re a beginner, since it’s really minimalist and uses its own init system, but overall it’s really customizable and packages are kind of new (it is currently on the 6.6.21 kernel version, as a measure).

pizzawithdirt,

Try doing an installation of Arch, following the guide and searching how to do things as you go. It teaches a lot of things.

pizzawithdirt,

The Dynamic Kernel Module System automatically builds your modules for your updated kernel.

pizzawithdirt,

Why did you get downvoted so hard lmao? GrapheneOS doesn’t support that many phones but LineageOS has support for many phones, though unfortunately the latest Samsung phones have their bootloaders locked I believe so nothing can be done about the OS.

Bluetooth issues on Bazzite OS (lemmy.world)

Hi, I’ve been having issues with my network adapter on Bazzite OS. Both WIFI and Bluetooth do not work, and the the utility nmcli device confirms this. I used lspci to find my network controller, which is a `MEDIATEK Corp. MT7922 802.11ax PCI Express Wireless Network Adapter. I’m unsure how to proceed further. Thanks.

pizzawithdirt,

Try running uname -r to see if your kernel version is below 5.17. This card only got support after that version.

You can only pick 2 games from steam to play for the rest of your life, what games are they? (sh.itjust.works)

I have a large library of steam games, but yet always come back to Garry mod and ravensfield. I keep coming back for the modded content and every other game is excellent, don’t get me wrong. But a lot of big games like RD2 and watchdogs 2 just seem like such a long time investment. What 2 games do you infinitely come back to?

pizzawithdirt,

pizzawithdirt,

A uBlock Origin filter is already enabled for bypassing paywalls in LibreWolf by default. So using ByPass Paywalls is mostly unnecesarry.

pizzawithdirt,

Manjaro, I get it. But Mint is excellent if you want a stable Ubuntu experience without Ubuntu Pro ads in the fucking terminal and a slow as shit proprietary package manager, integrated right into your system package manager.

pizzawithdirt,

Yeah, nobody should go out of their way to buy a prepaid phone and harrass him like that. /s

pizzawithdirt,

Probably Linux Mint (linuxmint.com) will be the best experience for you. If you have newer hardware or you’re not sure scroll down to the bottom on the download page and download the “EDGE” iso since it has newer software than the default versions and more hardware support. If you have older hardware, you can probably install the Cinnamon iso too but if that doesn’t work install the XFCE iso. Finally flash it onto a USB drive with etcher.io and boot into it, testing if some things work like audio and video. Software like VSCode etc. are already on the software manager so you won’t have much trouble with writing JS.

pizzawithdirt,

Though if you have an Nvidia card you should install Pop! OS or Nobara Linux since they have an Nvidia ISO so you won’t need to struggle with installing them later on.

pizzawithdirt,

Not sure really since I don’t have an Nvidia card. Pop! OS and Nobara are just general recommendations I found on the internet.

pizzawithdirt,

Windows + D minimizes all applications and goes to desktop.

pizzawithdirt,

You can just use RiMusic, it’s a pretty good YouTube Music frontend. And I think there was BeatBump if you want a web based alternative.

pizzawithdirt,

I don’t have 2FA for my GitLab account since it’s only accesible via my GitHub account which has 2FA. Is this good or should I add 2FA to GitLab also?

pizzawithdirt,

Okay, thanks!

pizzawithdirt,

Paying for a text editor, who doesn’t like that?

pizzawithdirt,

DDG is just a Bing frontend. Using SearXNG is mostly better since you can get results from multiple sources.

pizzawithdirt,

Try installing something like Linux Mint that is Ubuntu or Debian based which has a lot of beginner documentation. You don’t really need much resources after that, you will probably learn while using it and searching for how to do things. Also if you play games, check if the games you play work in Linux via ProtonDB.

What Would You Like To See Improved in GNU/Linux?

Hey guys, I’m just an ordinary dev looking for something to work on. While messing around with my hobby projects, I couldn’t help but notice that under the surface, there are a lot of places that the libre desktop can be improved. I’d like to take on your suggestions on what I should seriously consider working on and...

pizzawithdirt,

Honestly WiFi support, it isn’t as bad as it was before but still some really popular cards like RTL8821CE aren’t properly supported (i know there is a dkms driver but it isn’t properly maintained and doesn’t work for the latest kernel versions).
