A product you were just talking about pops up in an online ad. How? Advertising algorithms are so good that they may know what you want even before you do. C...

possiblylinux127,

Not to mention there are a lot of data points that are better. For instance, the can now if your interested in something by monitoring how long you look at it and if you click on something.

possiblylinux127,

That is because it has 100 other data points to go off of. It also compares you to everyone else.

Our smartphones, operating systems and apps are dominated by Google & Apple. possiblylinux127,

The problem is that android is tried heavily to proprietary google software

possiblylinux127,

AOSP is dying as Google has replaced all the core apps with proprietary versions. On top of that the Android SDK has proprietary software included and a EULA

possiblylinux127,

Lineage OS is great and all but at the end of the day most phones have google malware

possiblylinux127,

Do you have evidence to backup your statement?

Recent NPR article on Reddit's IPO -- I strongly suggest you give it a listen. I won't say anything other than I found myself angry enough to provide a bit of feedback and links to evidence refuting some of the worst misrepresentations.

possiblylinux127,

I could care less about Reddit honestly. Also NPR isn’t exactly bias free when it comes to reporting.

tagging @mozilla @mozilla @firefox @firefox to see if this post shows up on .

Apparently your mastodon posts show up on Lemmy under the right circumstances (tagging a Lemmy community). 🤞

Edit: if I remove the tagging, will the post magically disappear from Lemmy too?

Edit:
For mastodon users wondering about this, here's the corresponding Lemmy thread: https://lemmy.ml/post/13358920

Attention people in Southern California! KDE is coming to town (to set up a booth a SCaLE21x).

Come visit us at @socallinuxexpo at the Pasadena Convention Center, enjoy some talks, meet KDE contributors, marvel at our technological... er... marvels, and have a good time!

Enterprise Linux on desktop?

Anyone using enterprise Linux on their desktop such as RHEL, Alma, Rocky, CentOS etc.?

I'm curious if it's easy to use for this purpose or if the older packages are a pain.

@linux

possiblylinux127,

If you count Fedora and Proxmox then yes

@lineageos I request you to release Android 14 for Mi 11X(alioth)

possiblylinux127,

If you want to get into the weeds you can start porting your device to the latest release. It is a lot if work but you learn a lot. Making it work well often takes skill and a lot of hacking.
