For our next song, we take you back to 1991.

My best friend from high school and I heard this little band was doing a warm up tour in Petaluma at a little theater that could fit MAYBE 200 people. It might have been the first public performance.

We went and bought tickets from scalpers out front for like $50. A lot of money back then...

Next up on our walk through the streets of , we take you back to 1989.

First time I heard this song was on the team bus on our way back from some god awful place. Imagine an entire football team of 13 - 18 year olds belting this out on some back road at 1 am in the morning.

The coaches looked at us like we were crazy. The cheerleaders were 'mirin. Lol.

Next stop, 1984. First heard this song in my childhood friend's garage. His parents converted their garage into a spare room for him.

He was about 4 years older than me, I think, and was cool as heck. He had a pool table in his garage! Met the girl who gave me my first real kiss in that garage.

LOL

So now, we go allllll the way back to 1980 on our journey. First heard this song vising some cousins in New York. Rural New York. Small farm house on a small farm. Second and last time I was ever there. My sister and two cousins.

For our next song, we take you to an artist that my friend from a different high school (who I met from a friend at my high school) turned me on to.

The year this was released was 1993.

That friend is one of the coolest people I've ever met. He lives in Canada now.

It's a shame the artist who sung this song was an and died from . Died for nothing. Just a waste.

  1. My best friend Dave's living room with his cousin Eddie.

We're lip synching and pretending we're rock stars. Hahaha.

Our next selection was from the same year. When this video came out, MTV used to have the Friday Night Video fights. It took this guy to come out with this video to knock the previous artists out after a 6 month long run as champions.

My sister was in love with this guy and, I gotta be honest, I miss the guy. He had his problems, without any doubt, but nobody can deny his talent.

That last one scared the shit out of me when it came out. LOL. I was like 8 or something. I had a paper route and had to deliver papers at like 4 in the morning before light. It's foggy out. We have a graveyard nearby. My overactive imagination saw Zombies coming out of that fog every morning. LOL.

It's easy to forget how good looking a guy Michael was when he was young. Sad.

Our next selection takes us to one of my earliest memories of my mother. Pretty sure after Elvis this was her favorite band. Mid 1970s in the living room of our small house in northern California.

The song came on one of these:

Pretty sure the incredibly talented woman in this video set me on my life-long love on brunettes.

Such amazing ladies.

I had no idea about their history at the time, I just knew they got my hormonal teenage pulse racing and I loved their music.

Now we go back to 8th grade or so. This video introduced me to that other hot blonde of heavy metal..lol. She did a classic duet with another somewhat famous guy.

This guy was Jeannie's favorite, a heavy metal chick from my class. LOL. Ah the 80s.

When this duet came out, I think it was seismic for the time. It was the first lady of heavy metal and the prince of darkness teaming up. I don't think anyone saw it coming.

Same year, about 8th grade. Really cool girl from my class had our entire class over (it was a small school, only about 15 people or so in the class) to watch this movie. (Her favorite). Jackie was probably the first real date I ever went on. Crocodile Dundee II. Haha.

So much great music when you're young and always a story to go with it.

This next video was released in 1986 too. Funny, scarey, and lots of other words. I'd never seen anything like this before, but I guess it was big in England at the time.

Young people today don't understand that at the time, we woke up wondering if this would be the day we all died in a nuclear war.

As it turns out, we almost did. Several times. Read up on Stanislav Petrov for a chilling example. Quite possibly the most important man in human history.

Here you are...

In the late 80s and early 90s, this movie and show was huge in Berkeley. I lost track of how many Friday nights I spent in Berkeley and how many virgins I took.

My friends had to trick me into going the first time and I was hooked immediately.

I think it was that night where I lost my homophobia and would be an ally.

Pretty sure the Trixie was interested in me at the time, but I had a girlfriend (my now wife).

She was hot though. LOL. Really fun to hang out with at the after party too.

One of my friends who I took, eventually ran his own production and had a wedding based on the movie.
