🎂🚉Happy birthday to the Glen Waverley line, opened from East Malvern to Glen Waverley on 5th May 1930.
As a special birthday present you've got trains every 10 minutes for most of the weekend.😍
But it's only due to works on other lines.🚧
Plenty of people want to get around Melbourne - cutting waiting times would encourage more people out of their cars.
So how about more frequent trains on every day on every line, Vic Govt, just like other big cities?

Melbourne's buses - poor frequency in some areas, non-existent in others. (And it's much the same in regional Victoria)

The bus upgrades in growth areas announced last week are very welcome, and a good start in providing more transport options for locals. Continued investment in bus services is vital.

🎂🚉 Happy 19th birthday to Marshall station, opened 26th April 2005.
It's good to see the second platform nearing completion - this will allow more frequent train services, which will be very welcome.

It’s great that there’s investment in growing the V/Line fleet, but after 20 years of making VLocities, the government should be considering a new design.

Decades spent making it easier to drive and hard to get around without a car has backfired, making it worse for everyone.

It's a myth that Melburnians won't use buses. They won't use buses that are infrequent, indirect, slow and unreliable. But they will use routes that provide a reasonably good service. We need more of them - not just in Melbourne, but around Victoria.

The cancellation of planned industrial action on V/Line in late March is good news. The previous stoppages have been very disruptive to passengers, both in regional Victoria and in areas of Melbourne's west and north that rely on V/Line trains.

Tram safety zones - not accessible, usually no shelter, no seats, just a poor experience for tram passengers.

🚉🎂Happy birthday to Newport railway station, opened 165 years ago, on 1st March 1859.
Newport is one of few stations in the western and northern suburbs to get trains every 10 minutes most of the day. At most other stations you'll wait twice as long between trains outside peak hour.
To encourage more Melburnians out of cars, we need more trains more often, every line, all day, every day.

There's been great progress improving the Metro network to cope with extreme heat, but V/Line and tram infrastructure still need investment to reduce disruptions in hot weather.
PTUA's Tony Morton interviewed on this here:

Our 7 day city needs a 7 day public transport service - starting with upgrades for the busiest 6 day-a-week routes such as bus 800. 🚌
