The tactiles (including yellow line) at some stations are a shocker. This is Malvern.

🚉🎂Happy birthday to Newport railway station, opened 165 years ago, on 1st March 1859.
Newport is one of few stations in the western and northern suburbs to get trains every 10 minutes most of the day. At most other stations you'll wait twice as long between trains outside peak hour.
To encourage more Melburnians out of cars, we need more trains more often, every line, all day, every day.

“Sorry, Southern Cross.”
“Yes.”

Metro 5.30pm Update:

Multiple lines are suspended or experiencing delays due to severe weather and storm damage.

If you’re impacted by this it’s God punishing you because you touch yourself at night.

Good news for the Swifties - the complete shutdown of the Werribee and Williamstown lines on the weekend of the concerts has been cancelled/postponed.

There are still smaller closures on some middle/outer parts of the Belgrave and Frankston lines: https://www.metrotrains.com.au/planned-works/

It’s about 3 weeks since I sent feedback in to PTV about this signage at Ormond, McKinnon and Patterson being wrong. The quick easy fix is to simply remove them. No action (or even a reply) yet.

A reminder that it’s illegal to drink alcohol on public transport and doing so may attract a fine.

However, if you’re channeling this lady, we’ll let it slide.

Just noticed something interesting on the PTV website about the new myki ticketing system.

In this diagram, PTV have included "short life smart tickets" as a future payment option. These sounds to me like we may finally be getting short-term paper tickets again.

These were intended to be part of the original myki system and were part of the initial trials. However, these didn't make it into the final rollout.

If I'm right, this will be a game changer for Melbourne's public transport. It's something that has been a major complaint ever since myki was introduced. Bringing them back would be a big help for many people.

You can see this diagram and more information on the webpage here: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/tickets/building-you-a-better-myki/

The train I’m on keeps announcing that it’s stopping all stations except Seaford. Only problem is it originated at Carrum, so it doesn’t even pass through Seaford. Meant to say Parkdale, I’m guessing.

Here’s a wonderful video about a train replacement helicopter.

We also use helicopters, but they’re reserved for our executive team who fly to work whilst looking down on you plebs stuck in traffic and travelling in overcrowded trains.

Metro Bingo thanks to the Optus outage 😬

danielbowen,

The trains have been back since about 6am, but it's worth checking the live updates for your station, as there are lots of cancellations and potentially long service gaps (causing crowding).
At my station it appears every second train at the moment is cancelled. Melbourne

danielbowen,

Bentleigh at 8:30. Everybody who wanted to get aboard did, but it’ll be pretty crowded by the time it reaches the city.

All these buses feeding into Moorabbin, and only a train every 8-10 minutes into the City (half the usual peak frequency). No wonder it’s so crowded today.
