ramirezmike,

wait, you have robots?

ramirezmike,

do you use clumping litter? not everyone does, which can make it messy if you leave it for them to kick up the next time they go. Not to mention the smell… if you’re really leaving your cat’s pee go for days at a time you might be nose blind to the smell it makes.

ramirezmike,

I was considering getting Unpacking but then saw it was on mobile for the same price and am unsure whether it’d be better on my phone or on Steam deck

ramirezmike,

excellent, just what I’m looking for 👍

ramirezmike,

I feel like your examples aren’t quite what OP was referring to. Those games have pretty great gameplay

ramirezmike,

OK OP is a weirdo, my bad

ramirezmike,

I’m in the middle of the boss fights book on Goldeneye and I think it talks about this specific face

ramirezmike,

GTA games are expensive to make. All that multiplayer bullshit subsidies the single player campaign. I was pretty satisfied with GTA 5 and GTA 4 and didn’t touch the multiplayer. is it a big deal if they continue that pattern?

ramirezmike,

have you seen Forbrydelsen / The Killing?

ramirezmike, (edited )

I just tried this out a little bit ago. I couldn’t get the Linux version working but I downloaded the windows version, added it to steam, set the proton version to the newest one (.8 I think? it had an 8 in it) and it worked pretty well

haven’t tried changing any settings but beat the first mission without any issues 👍

edit:

actually, check out the steps in the last comment here github.com/fgsfdsfgs/perfect_dark/issues/83

ramirezmike,

hah, this was me with Grooveshark.

and then I lost everything when it shut down.

and then me again with Google play music. “upload your music, we’ll keep it for you”

and then I lost everything when it shut down.

“oh it’s ok, you can just use [new service], it’s better anyway”

it just isn’t the same, you lose stuff everytime. I don’t think it’s worth it.

ramirezmike,

yeah, it did not work for me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

ramirezmike,

this hit me hard on multiple levels. There was a lot of live performances and remixes on Grooveshark that just don’t exist anymore.

But, I also lived where they were headquartered. They had started a “Grooveshark university” for local programmers to learn the ropes and it was really cool. I was self-taught but learned a lot from that experience. Such a shame

ramirezmike,

I had albums with missing songs, a few albums wouldn’t transfer. I had versions of songs that were different.

I didn’t lose everything but there was enough that I cared about that I no longer want to trust a system where I don’t actually own the music

ramirezmike,

how has that been? I thought the idea was neat but wondered about how it would be long term. Are you able to publish what you make and get some income?

ramirezmike,

the best part about this is that the rental company will charge you for not filling up to make up the difference… but then not bother filling up the car and just send it out with half a tank.

ramirezmike,

I’m probably at least average intelligence and rented a tesla recently because it was what was available. I’ve never driven one before and was so frustrated with the experience.

As a renter, you only have the key fob which has a really vague drawing of how to use it that only makes sense after you figure it out. I had no idea you had to press it against the door column to lock/unlock it. How is that intuitive? why wouldn’t it be against the handle?

Had to sit and watch YouTube videos in the car to figure out how to do everything. It was really unclear how to easily turn off the car and the only way I could figure it out was diving into the settings menu to find a shutdown button, only to accidentally turn it on again as I’m leaving.

The manual door release is designed to be discreet! THE MANUAL DOOR RELEASE IS DESIGNED TO BE DISCREET!

Like, I get it that a person who buys the Tesla will take the time to learn it, but it’s a terrible rental experience. Especially when a lot of the tutorials are catered toward people who have the car tied to their phone, which you can’t do as a renter.

I wouldn’t say the women in the article are blameless, but it’s definitely not “adjust the mirrors and you’re good to go” like every other rental I’ve had.

ramirezmike,

what does this even mean? “sure they’re fun” and also “not particularly good by any measure” are conflicting statements

ramirezmike,

Fast food can be delicious and filling, but it’s not good food.

this is a completely different argument. Fast food is “good by any measure” because it’s good by the measure of delicious and of filling. It doesn’t make sense to complement something and then say it’s not good in any aspect.

ramirezmike,

isn’t it “good” by the measure of it being your favorite?

ramirezmike,

“stiffing people” is language that implies they are entitled to the tip, which they are not as it’s a tip. Expecting a tip is falling victim to the propaganda that enables employers to maintain low wages. By continuing to tip because “that’s what people do” you’re only further cementing this culture.

If more people refrained from tipping or tipping excessively when not appropriate, then employers would have to increase wages. That’s how to solve the problem.

When I tip, I tip 20%, but I’m not going to begin tipping at a grocery store or getting a coffee unless it’s a small, local establishment.

Matching YOE but not stack experience in job applications

What do you think about applying (or hiring) applicants who have experience but not in the specific stack of the job? I’ve found jobs in fields I’m passionate about, but I don’t always have matching experience in the stack. Does YOE matter more than stack or is stack experience quintessential?...
