Went over to their site. I found it ironic that their ten level reply thread complaining about the defederation made me realize that the different level reply colors form a rainbow. Hopefully that isn't for just June, it is very helpful when trying to figure out who is responding to who.
Some of Reddit’s most popular communities have posted open letters to the company with a series of requests regarding many key issues at the heart of the recent protests on the platform. They want a response by June 29th.
"The Chinese that bought our company demand we track everything. They gave us until July first to close down 3rd party apps or they pull our funding and reddit is dead. " Probably what is going on.
Yes, Moscow had troops ready to blow up bridges and airplanes were destroyed deep in Russia were just bad Urkanian propaganda. There are no tanks in Baghdad, er, Moscow.
If Putin publicly stated he had cancer and was going to die, and then he didn't, it would be comparable. This actually happened. There is no way you can just say this coop attempt is just Ukranian lies.
I just want constancy. Weed is less dangerous than alcohol. Ban both, legalize both, legalize weed but not alcohol, or keep things the way they are and drop the premise that it has anything to do with health and safety.
Complains about how dangerous introducing something is. Then says it is subjective and won't address it.
It's like the Santa Claus problem. Telling kids that Santa Claus is real and watching, then went they get older telling them it was all a lie. Surprise Pikachu face when they all turn atheist. Tell kids that weed is bad for their health. When they get older, watch as half the country legalise medical marajana. Surprise Pikachu when the kids all start trying meth "cause adults lied about one drug, what about the others?"
Consistency isn't just to make certain people feel better. Consistency prevents people from going down dangerous paths.
How meta. My only argument is that policy should be consistent, less people stop trusting the authority that is issuing the policy; and you complain that my argument is inconsistent.
And how is my argument that we should regulate public consumption of addictive substances consistently contradictory to what you are arguing?
All I know is that I lost a good friend to alcohol induced liver failure, while I have a 3 year old cousin that takes marajana to prevent seizures. Both have the ability to be abused, both have medical applications, but only one is illegal.
So this Lemmy place is pretty awesome, and I see it growing by the hour! Just like others link external sites for content here, we should really also share Lemmy content to external (e.g. Reddit, Twitter, etc.) to show others where the users are going now....
The Orville. The only show I watched on basic cable at a particular time in ages. Glad they made the jump to hulu, but the 3rd session made me feel like they dumped a couple of seasons worth of plot into it, since they knew they weren't getting another season.
Ten guys and a tank could get almost to Belgorod over the non-defended part of the Ukraine-Russia border, Prigozhin and 5,000 men could get with in 100 miles of Moscow, and Ukraine has a massive legion of Leopard tanks waiting on the front for a break to hammer.
Just think - if the world took off the shackles and Ukraine no longer cared about the moral high ground, how far could all those reserve tanks units make it? Just start in Kharkiv, point towards Moscow, and drive as fast as possible. They could be shelling Russia's MOD in Moscow by lunch and make it to St. Petersburg by dinner.
Of course, it wouldn't stop the war - since Putin would just be hiding on the other side of the country and removing the MOD might actually make the Russia army more effective, but it just goes to show how much of a puppet show this actually is.
now they're making a live action moana in 2025. it hasn't even been 10 years, disney is lowballing so hard with these lifeless remakes. hopefully ariel flops bad enough that they change their minds.
The board finally got rid of him and his mentality, but the "make everything live action so that people who think animation = kid can still watch our stuff" division is still churning out stuff while the "how do I make AI art into a whole Disney movie for pennies" division is still trying to get off the ground.
This reminds me of the 'salmon ribbon' story. Charlotte Haley originally used salmon colored ribbons to represent the small amount of money going to cancer prevention and screening compared to 'searching for a cure', like a salmon swimming up a stream of money. When the mortality rates of women who detected breast cancer early was looked at, screening every 6 months had a NEGATIVE mortality. Women still died from breast cancer, but seeing a doctor every 6 months had the knock on effect of catching other things earlier. Having breast cancer and catching it before 6 months meant you were less likely to die than the general public. Essentially, 'the cure' is just having everyone get screened every 6 months.
Corporations wanted to write big checks to pharma companies, not raise money for screenings, so they changed the ribbon to 'pink'. However, Haley had the last laugh, as her story made an impact on Obama and free cancer screenings were made a big part of the ACA.
Sounds like $40/night w/o dog, and $40 minus daily dog boarding cost/night with free dog. Depending on the local boarding cost, it might actually be free.

Wouldn't it be nice if instead of just bars with alcohol, there were establishments for people to consume cannabis while eating, playing board games, and socializing?
If anything, cannabis seems like a much better (and more profitable) drug around which to build a leisurely establishment.
