Trump floats idea of three-term presidency at NRA convention (www.theguardian.com)

Donald Trump flirted with the idea of being president for three terms – a clear violation of the US constitution – during a bombastic speech for the National Rifle Association in which he vowed to reverse gun safety measures green-lighted during the Biden administration....

And all that without even getting slammed or flattened. I guess he got away with it this time.

recapitated,

Well, the great news is these forums are vastly inconsequential.

The non-owning classes need a different tool for tracking debts than the fiat currency we’re used to.

If there is a way to cooperatively track value created by working within your neighborhood, say fixing a neighbors deck, delivering food, etc, outside of macroeconomic trade, we could figure out how to live without the hoarding pigs.

The difficult part is accountability. Commodities and fiat currencies are what they are, but trying to implement some other fungible measure of value created before the representation of that value already exists is what has me scratching my head. If there are 100 people capable of doing work within their community but only $10 to go around them, it doesn’t make sense to exchange work for money that doesn’t exist. But if those 100 people can agree to compensate one another by exchanging work without using the currency, they would all be unblocked and industrious.

Then slammed, and flattened again, and then kneaded, rolled, blasted, and risen. Then he’s gonna get SLICED.

I’m only here to help support an opinion counter to the masses. I’m not a professor. If I were, I wouldn’t be in the comment section.

In this thread, a fine demonstration of how hatred stems from fear which stems from ignorance and lack of experience, and a general lack of grasp on probs and stats. Par for the course.

recapitated,

I hope you don’t talk to the people in your actual personal life this way.

recapitated,

That’s a nice cover story, but you know what you did to me with your head cannon.

recapitated,

Probably

As a cisgender white man, I think the most offensive thing I could possibly do is be offended by what people call me or assume about me. Which, in a way I sort of wonder if that stance is also offensive, like I’m not even bothering to play on a level playing field. But, at the end of the day I know these attributes don’t cost me any tier of opportunities… Maybe they cost me some specific opportunities but definitely not any level of equivalent opportunities.

The right wing are total babies.

Absolutely

18+ How do things get stuck in the anus?

I have seen a lot of stories online of people getting things stuck in there and doctors having to remove it, even items like cucumbers. I get that an item with a highly irregular shape could get stuck. But if it’s something long and rounded, why can people not just poop it out? Is it because the item isn’t soft enough?

recapitated,

Someone should make a wikiHow with this title

recapitated,

Congratulations, you re-implemented /b/ on lemmy

recapitated,

That categorization is really helpful for understanding this mindset, thanks!

On a political spectrum, the term libertarian should relate to anti-authoritarian. So, I can see how the case can be made against socialized healthcare for them. It’s not really about true freedom or liberty. And in the US anyway, it’s largely just facade co-opted by the fascist [authoritarian and wealthy] right wing, ironically.

The word “Libertarian” in US has less relation to the dictionary definition than “Republican” and “Democrat”. These are names of parties over here, even if they have a namesake of governmental mechanisms.

Examples:

Ron Johnson said in a single breath that he was a libertarian and opposed the legalization of marijuana.

Find the average “libertarian” policy position on border policies.

US politics is unfortunately entrenched in tribalism rather than searching for the right tool to match a job or solve a problem and maximize outcomes, the libertarians over here are no exception.

I think before folks downvote this for being a flawed opinion on its face, they should remember what the actual question was, and this statement wasn’t lodged in a vacuum.

Now if actual libertarians are downvoting this I’d love to hear their corrections.

Computers follow instructions, engineers make mistakes. Now engineers have instructed computers to make huge guesses, this is the new mistake.

FWIW I am also weirdly appreciative of the government accountability office watchdog report, in case this helps with direction.

I want a phone that has an eink display but an ecosystem for apps. I want my battery to last weeks, I want my communications conduits to be dead simple, and I want to be able to run an OTP authenticator on it.

If the thing I’m expected to have becomes highly useful for the things I’m expected to have it for while also interrupting my bad habit tendencies, I think it would be a good fit for me.

Usually they go less far in practice than their promises, because our government was designed to be gridlocked.

recapitated,

Same thing as last time.
