I missed the final of the Asian Cup earlier today. Qatar beat Jordan 3-1 to repeat as champions. Meh, can't get too excited about Qatar winning.

When Qatar's Akram Afif scored from the spot, he celebrated by doing a MAGIC TRICK.

And 14 years later, I'm watching MLS preseason games on YouTube (thanks @stljakeh).

NBA basketball player Michael Porter Jr says that women's basketball players shouldn't get paid nearly what men make, because they don't have as many fans, and aren't "packing out arenas" like men are.

Look. I'm not even mad. I don't think he's wrong about player pay should be tied to league revenue, which is tied to in person attendance, online, and TV viewership.

I'm not mad. I just know that he hasn't looked at his NBA champ Denver Nugget average game viewership, compared to Caitlin Clark.😬

@mekkaokereke Read a thing a while back about how the Big Ten Network experimented showing some women's volleyball games in primetime and the viewership was way beyond what they expected.

There is an audience, it's just never been given an opportunity to show that it's there.

There’s a fascinating conflict in some fans who simultaneously hate the NCAA but also do not want the players to be paid or ruled as employees — cheering the gov’t & private lawsuits against the association but upset players may end up with the freedom to get paid fairly.

@bedirthan TIL that the South American qualifying tournament for the men's soccer at the Olympics is happening right now. It's into a final group stage. Of four teams: Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Venezuela, 2 will qualify for Paris.
