richdotward,

Same here. Sansa in the drawer, only brought it as used to be able to hack a ps3 with it before full custom firmware was a thing.

Zune still works but no windows 10 drivers so stuck with old music 😕

richdotward,

I’m a big fan of dell wyse machines. Loads on ebay, ex business machines. X86 so decent support, decent dell power supply, on / off button / in cases and low power.

I have wyse 3040 for pihole cost 39.99

I have wyse 5070 with windows 10 for plex and running a Ubuntu 22 server in virtual box, cost 59.99

richdotward,

www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/wyse/3040/www.parkytowers.me.uk/thin/wyse/5070/

Both mine are there and tested for power use.

Running 24/7 for a good 6 months. Certainly not noticed any difference to power cost.

richdotward,

You don’t. I also don’t recommend you marry them… Happily divorced now 🙄

richdotward,

Lucky I guess but noticed when I leave work at 4.30pm, I can get to the local sainsburys in 5 minutes and the amount of discounted food is crazy. I buy gbp 4.00 meals all the time for 99p then just freeze and eat for the next few weeks.

Good as long as you aren’t picky and will eat anything.

Freezer currently full of meat and ready made meals.

How do you organize your DHCP clients?

I’m setting up DHCP reservations on my home network and came up with a simple schema to identify devices: .100 is for desktops, .200 for mobiles, .010 for my devices, .020 for my wife’s, and so on. Does anyone else use schemas like this? I’ve also got .local DNS names for each device, but having a consistent schema feels...

richdotward,

I put them into groups, servers, consoles, computers, phones, smart devices, media. Between 10 to 20 per range.

Everything else the dhcp server gives out ip over x.x.x.150 so easy to see new stuff.

richdotward,

Nice pub, lived by it for years. Right pain to get to though, mud road to reach it.

Supermarket plastic bag charge has led to 98% drop in use in England, data shows (www.theguardian.com)

Environmental campaigners have called on the government to learn from its own successes after official figures showed the use of single-use supermarket plastic bags had fallen 98% since retailers in England began charging for them in 2015....

richdotward,

I was surprised myself, 10p a time adds up. Being so cheap it was easy enough to carry 2 large clothe bags in my backpack everywhere. Saved a fortune over the years over paying for plastic bags.

Amazon's Amp is now available on Android (play.google.com)

Last spring, Amazon launched its live audio-streaming platform, Amp, which aims to reinvent radio with “an infinite dial of shows.” Amp offers users access to a vast, built-in music library to create their own DJ sets with. No need to buy songs or flirt with the DMCA, just make a playlist, go live, talk in between tracks,...

richdotward,

I use trains on a regular basis but can’t remember the last time I saw any staff in the station.

I now just use the train app on my phone. from, to, time, press pay and use the finger print scanner to pay.

Buying a ticket should be simple.

Even the buses here I just tap my phone against I reader and sit down.

richdotward,

Brit really doesn’t seem to be herself. Injury I guess.

Is Ratio Cheating prevalent on private trackers?

Ive always noticed some suspicious profiles on private trackers, where they have enormous ratio stats even though they don’t belong to a VIP tier/class. How do they achieve this? Do they use softwares like greedytorrents or ratioghost? If yes how do they go undetectable by the mods? I’ve been looking up some remote forums...

richdotward, (edited )

I have about 2tb credit on a popular site. My TV shows are all auto grabbed by my seedbox and normally seeded above 1 to 1 before I even notice.

100 Meg up and down.

richdotward,

2.9 here in the UK. All one star reviews on main screen lol

richdotward,

I assume they are going after Google, bing and all other search engines to?

They really are making a mess of everything.

[BETA] Connect 1.0.96 Released

Hi, happy Thursday everyone. Just a small release which brings an option for per-account settings, settings now auto-save (no more ‘save’ button), and an option for turning off volume button comment navigation. and a minor bug fix. Going to be testing it a bit and then hopefully it will be live later today....

richdotward,

Happy to throw a few pounds via Google pay, but not trusting a unknown payment site.

richdotward,

Weldone, consistency is key. Don’t overdo it and keep to your own pace. Just hit 5km myself after 2 years off.

richdotward,

I use bitsync to transfer files from my seedbox to my home network. The app itself is years old, closed source but just works.

Theres versions for arm, windows and Linux.

Use it via windows 10, Ubuntu 20lts currently but did also use the arm version on my wd mycloud and multiple arm based boards like raspberry pi 2, pi 4, orange pi pc and cubietruck.

richdotward,

Wait till the EU battery replacement law kicks in. Kind of no need to upgrade then unless you crack the screen.

Difference between my Samsung s9+ and Samsung s21 is minimal.

richdotward,

I thought the same till I actually brought myself a decent pair of Bluetooth headphones with a chargable case. Never had a problem with battery life and much easier with no wires.

I did get a cheap gbp 2.00, usb-c to 3.5mm audio adaptor just in case but never used it yet.

richdotward,

Thanks for the info. Wanted to try it for ages.

Currently using poweramp.

Dispointed though, I use exactly the same music set stored on my phone and also on nas drive. Yet sorting doesnt always put the album together and the search doesn’t find all of the artists songs.

Sticking to poweramp.

Do you prefer PC or laptop? (freeonlinesurveys.com)

I was having a friendly discussion with someone this morning about PC and Laptops for work/education stuff, he suggested that I could use a chromebook for all this stuff and this would be a good idea and make things easier. I strongly disagreed with this, mainly because I hate laptops, the keyboard and touchpad make me angry and...

richdotward,

My setup is two laptops (home and work) but 90% of the time they are just used connected via usb-c to my desk in the front room.

Pull out one wire and swap between work and home setup.

richdotward,

Yeah noticed that too, bad storms in the area I heard. Satalite connection issues.

richdotward,

Only tracker I’ve ever been banned from. Got the mame roms, left 24/7 seeding but banned before I had chance to even seed back.
