ringwraithfish,

I haven’t found one yet, but I do recommend stamped metal with etched labels for 1 cup and lower measuring cups and spoons. I’ve replaced a plastic set with metal because the labels had all disappeared from the plastic over the years.

ringwraithfish,

Electric cars need competitive racing like F1 and NASCAR. There needs to be a culture built around the power of electric vehicles to get the muscle car culture to switch. Make electric cars “cool”.

ringwraithfish,

That’s awesome. Hope they start to make their way into the mainstream soon. I’m ready to go all-in on electric. Besides the climate, imagine what our cities will sound like with less combustion engines running.

ringwraithfish,

And you’ve just summed up all religious conflicts.

Boeing jetliner that suffered inflight blowout was restricted because of concern over warning light (apnews.com)

The Boeing jetliner that suffered an inflight blowout over Oregon was not being used for flights to Hawaii after a warning light that could have indicated a pressurization problem lit up on three different flights, a federal official said Sunday....

ringwraithfish,

Everyone knows warning lights are just ways to get you to pay more money to the dealers and manufacturers for things that aren’t important.

Just crank up the radio and put some tape over the lights.

ringwraithfish,

Recently, For All Mankind, Season 1, the episode where the kid gets hit by a car and is in the hospital with a brain bleed. My son was in the hospital with a brain bleed right after his birthday and spent months in the hospital recovering. This episode hit real close to home.

I had to take a break half way through the episode and didn’t finish it until 2 weeks later.

NBC is planning to reboot Battlestar Galactica for the second time. What do you think? (deadline.com)

I am personally against it despite Sam Esmail’s involvement (I really liked Mr. Robot). It’s not that I don’t think it could be a good show, it’s that NBC has plenty of other properties from former science fiction shows they could redevelop, but they’re redeveloping this one instead....

ringwraithfish,

Did you watch Season 3 of Picard?

ringwraithfish,

I agree. Picard Season 3 felt like it should have been the final TNG movie, but I’m actually glad it was episodic since it gave better pacing for gathering the cast together.

It was a lot of fam service, but in a good way imo

ringwraithfish,

That’s fair. I enjoyed it, but I can see why you wouldn’t. Hopefully we can agree at least 3 was better than 1 & 2.

Mini Monitor Recommendations

I’m looking for a small 7” or 8” computer monitor to keep on my desk to display Discord and other things without taking up real estate on my main monitor. Ideally something cheap and therefore not a touchscreen. There’s tons of options online but I’d like to get some recommendations from people who have a similar...

ringwraithfish,

Search for travel monitors or portable monitors.

ringwraithfish,

Brand new warehouses are probably good for this. What about the warehouse that has been around for 50+ years with cracks and settled concrete everywhere. It’s like Google Glass: an innovation with no real world problem to solve.

ringwraithfish,

No doubt it will be another handheld running Windows though instead of Linux

I will game on a Windows based PC, but Linux is a must have on hand held - Windows is too resource intensive, developers are not going to be able to get the same OS optimization out of Windows that they can with Linux

ringwraithfish,

To take it a step further, I believe he’s also aligned with various other ‘actors’ who wanted to see Twitter turn to dog shit due to it being a widespread tool of the people and its usefulness in coordinating large scale protests.

I think he saw an opportunity to both make a buck doing what you said and fulfilling some unknown obligation or deal he has to tank the reputation.

The money making fell through, but he’s still left hanging to fulfill his obligation.

/End conspiracy

ringwraithfish,

Has anyone played it? I looked at it on steam and the VA seemed subpar. Is the story really so good so you should go in completely blind?

ringwraithfish,

I’m basing my judgement of the VA off a short clip on Steam. I read that this is the type of game you want to experience first hand so I didn’t watch too much more on it for fear of spoiling the experience. Thanks for the feedback, I think I’ll try it out.

ringwraithfish,

Kids will never know the thrill of staying at a friend’s house that has HBO, Showtime, or Cinemax and stealthily watching the late night shows.

Albert Fish - American serial killer, rapist, child molester, and cannibal who committed at least three child murders from July 1924 to June 1928. (en.wikipedia.org)

The most insane wikipedia article I know. Many paragraphs describe events that seem like the worst thing that could happen, but then the next paragraph is somehow worse.

ringwraithfish,

Peanut butt butter! That’s how they do it in Hollywood!

Timesuck did a good episode on this maniac

ringwraithfish,

We take modern investigation and forensic processes and techniques for granted. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and the amount of shit people could get away with 70+ years ago was insane.

ringwraithfish,

It’s secret like Area 51 is secret. We know it’s there, we know the government is doing something with it, but we don’t know fully what, when, why, or how.

US residents: What big domestic policy improvements have the american people won from congress in the last 30 years?

Interpret improvements as you like. For me it's any large scale reforms or legislative packages designed to improve the country for all or see to the material interests of the majority without overly benefiting the elite....

ringwraithfish,

Didn’t Dodd-Frank get gutted a bit in recent years?

ringwraithfish,

This is one of those games that defined my childhood. Like the nerd, I never beat, but I revisit it every few years. Maybe I should make the effort and push to the ending.

ringwraithfish,

I had to dig a little. Looks to be John Anthony Castro and he’s running for PotUS on the Republican ticket. I’d never heard of him. He is apparently tied to a good percentage of these lawsuits in the states.

ringwraithfish,

Reminds me a little of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Not exactly what OP was describing, but follows bucks the traditional magic girl trope.

ringwraithfish,

I remember my wife crying saying she was a bad mother, and the baby hates her, and that she is so stupid to think she could do this. It was heartbreaking.

Same here. My wife’s milk never came in. She had 3 different lactation nurses tell her “don’t worry, it’ll happen, just keep trying”. Not once did anyone talk to her about the fact that it doesn’t happen for some women. Not once did they provide support for the increasing likelihood that it wouldn’t happen. It was just “keep trying, the milk will come”.

I don’t discount the benefits of breastfeeding, but I think our medical community needs to take a step back a little and think about this article and the other side effects of all that pressure they’re putting on mothers.
