My NYE (at least the morning and afternoon) will consist of pulling apart a dryer to remove the drum, try to repair a crack, and replace the felt gasket. Wonderful end to a pretty crappy 2023.

I've had this Tessan power strip for years, I used it when I first started working from home and then eventually it became part of my travel kit since power outlets in hotels are rarely conveniently placed (or numerous enough). I had to get a second one for this trip because I couldn't place the one where it was useful all the time. I'm really impressed with the improvements they made...USB-C port, moved the power switch, true flat electrical plug.

After the hell that was the previous car repair and finding out there's another repair that will cost over $1k to fix (luckily it's not an undrivable repair—small no pressure oil leak in about the most expensive place to get one) it's a relief to find out tires/brakes/suspension look great.

60% correct on first try for a new question set with stuff I haven't seen before actually isn't too bad for me, considering the percentage correct on first try has been going up each time and I always come back and steadily stay in the 80s.

I'm standing on a weird precipice. My third child is becoming an adult and leaving to pursue her own life. My other two kids are going away to their grandparents for the summer. My wife will also be gone for a short time. For a few weeks, I will be completely by myself. It's a level of absence of responsibility for anything other than work, the dog, and the cats that I have not experienced for probably 25 years,.

I think I'm going to sleep. A lot.

For the love of all that is holy...in Blades in the Dark (or all #FitD #TTRPGs I know of) there are not hard lines between free play, downtime, and "scores". Yes, you can only take downtime activities during downtime. But it's not the other way around. /1

Is there a way to replace button backs? I have some buttons where the pins have broken. Tbh I'd rather they have pin backs like my other pins instead of what buttons usually have, but I don't know if that's possible.

And I'm referring to buttons with a logo or picture and a pin on the back, like what you pin to your clothes.

Today in our #TribesInTheDark game we digressed quite a bit but that's ok. The Cell sans the Doomsayer who is currently obsessed with the stained glass window he's creating decided to go to Halos and Den Hades about the Z'bri's demand for the heartstone back. Halos laid out who the Z'bri is, a powerful Sangis count named Eshlazi, revealing its actually the current occupant of the heartstone. Somehow Eshlazi has awoken his spirit and found a way to reach out from inside the stone./1

I'm staying near the airport for #GenCon, and originally I was going to rent a car. But then I thought about it. I'm like 15 minutes away from the convention center. Aside from the expense of the rental, I'd need parking for 4 days for a car that's just going to sit there for 12+ hours.

I can just take the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and take a Lyft to the convention and back. It would likely save at least a couple hundred bucks.
